I've been on Ovestin since last November but I am finding that it's not doing such a good job recently and my bladder symptoms are returning. I'm 70 so cant go back on full HRT which I stopped 10 yrs ago. Does anyone have any knowledge of something stronger or more powerful than Ovestin. It's really making me miserable.Help!

You could try vagifem, it's a pessary (tiny) that is attached to a disposable applicator, the applicator is very slim (pencil thin), I would suggest starting by 14 day reload and see how you get on after that on 3 times a week, you may have to add in more doses each week x

Thanks for yr reply. Do you think Vagifem is more efficient? Looking at the Forum, more people seem to use it than Ovestin.

I use vagifem twice weekly as well as Ovestin on my outer bits. So combine the two for results !

I was using Ovestin externally along with vagifem internally as I had problems in and out. Ovestin was great but I don't like the messiness of it. Now I insert vagifem daily half way up and it seems to tackle both problems great x

Oh - replied on the other thread Bridget. Maybe do a reload and/or use every other night for a while? [see my ramblings on the other thread]

I changed from Ovestin to Vagifem, I personally find it better.

How much do you need to keep symptoms under control Tinkerbell?
-
CLKD...I need to use the Vagifem everyday.

:thankyou: the dosage is less than years ago, I think it was 25 ? now it's 10 ?
-
Yes it 10mg now, the good female GP at my practice is happy to hand out five doses a week as she said many women just can't manage on the 2 x 10 recommendation.
-
That's a relief!

Ive just had it confirmed today by an nhs gynae that the vagifem is such a minute amount of oestrogen that daily use is fine x

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I've got some Vagifem now but GP doesnt seem to want to prescribe both...
-
Bridge you can use both, if he won't prescribe both you could order ovestin privately from a reputable online pharmacy x
