Hi everyone.
I'm on femoston conti, 0.5/2.5 so ultra low dose, been on since February this year,
Apart from the headaches at first, and tweaking the time I take it, all is good,
no side effects at all. But,....I now feel that it's not enough, everyday I'm feeling down,
tearful, can get angry at the drop of a hat, my emotions are all over the place.
So I was wondering if I can double the dosage, which would equate to the next dose higher anyway.
And see how I go, if all ok, then I can go when my perscriptions due and explain to the doctor
and then get the higher one all the time. What do you think?
I can't see any problems with doing that, but I'm no expert, that's why I need your advice...
Thanx .......jd x

Hi Jillydoll - I'm on that one too & have been for 3 years now. I cut it down to half a tablet about a year ago & things didn't change much.
As you say it doesn't stop everything, I still get extremely tired & aches & pains but I put that down to old age ;D ;D
I do have days when I feel down, angry & tearful but I put that down to being a 60 year old woman who was the same at 50....40 lol.
To be honest if I was you I would keep on the same dosage for another couple of months to see if things pick up for you. I wouldn't double the dose without seeking doctors advice as when you go back & ask for a script for double the strength he/she may not be too happy that you did that without being checked over first (but this is only my opinion).
If you feel you can't do as I suggested then make an appointment with your GP on nurse practitioner for advice.
I am very happy with this tablet. It is enough to just take the edge off all the horrible symptoms I was getting.
Hope that helps.

Jillydoll - I think you need a higher dose, but maybe you should check with your GP first.

Thanx for the advice cazikins.
I forgot to mention that I have actually doubled the dose once, a few weeks ago,
and it did help, but only lasted about two days, I went back feeling good again,
and not all over the place.
My Doctor, to be honest, doesn't seem to mind, I had a conversation with her once about tweeking
the dose, and she said do what you want.
Wheather she'd admit to that is another story, lol, I think maybe I'll just book in and tell her
what's going on, and ask for the higher dosage. I'm probably just being lazy, because I hate
going to the docs for anything.....lol
Thanx again cazikins... jd xx

Thanx dotty.
I think your right.
I can't carry on like this. Everyday is a struggle.
I'm ok for 1/2 hour, then tearful, then ok again, it's a rollercoaster again.
I'm knackered. Lol

That's a rarity these days JD - keep hold of her ;D

Know exactly what you mean. I am on a low dose HRT spray & I have the same symptoms as you. I keep saying to myself just to wait until I get to the 3 month mark & I will up it. Dont know why I am making myself suffer it out

Hi jillydoll
I'm not clear about your doubling when you said you tried it - do you mean you only tried it for two days or you tried it for some time but only felt better for two days?
If your doc is OK with your experimenting ( after all there is a dose which is double what you are using) then go ahead and then if she is agreeable and it works, ask her to increase your prescription. The only possibility if you increase the dose is that you might increase the chance of progestogenic side effects - although Femoston contains one that is better tolerated than most.
Otherwise you could try 1/10 but you would have to put up with a withdrawal bleed, and not always medically possible ( eg for those who have had endometriosis).

Hi hurdity,
I only doubled up once because I felt so low, and all the usual stuff, and after I
felt much , much better, then the next day went back down to my normal dose,
I did think, probably rather stupidly, that , that one extra tablet would ‘do the trick'.
It did, but only lasted for about two days....I thought I just needed a boost.
So now , just taking my normal dose of 1 per day, 0.5/2.5. Seems not enough.
Paisley, I know I'm the same, keep thinking, no, I'll be ok tomorrow.
But I never am. So I thought I'd just try and double up....good luck...

Hi Jd go back and have a chat with your gp I think your body and your instincts are telling you that you need that increase so do it via your gp so you keep her onside and trust your instincts.good luck xx

Hi daisydot.
Are you back home now?Hope you had a great time.
Yeah, I think I'll increase my dose, to see how I go , only for a week ,
And I'll book in with her, and tell her I need the next one up. She should
be ok about it. Hopefully.
Last time, it was me telling her what I wanted, she just went along with it,
but I also had to ask her to check my blood pressure too, which I thought
was bad, she should have done that herself, but I suppose you can't have it all. Lol
My other doctor, who I saw when I was 1st postmeno, nearly 4years ago,
prescribed me premiqie(wrong spelling) and said if that don't suite NO other
Hrt will suite. How wrong was she.....so now I see another doctor at the surgery and
she's totally different.so fingers crossed, I'll be back to my self again in no time.

Hello ladies.
I just wanted to add that I have also been guilty of hoping things will right themselves even though I'm on the same rotten rollercoaster and every up brings a down!
I've been on the forum a lot today and had excellent help and advice so I now have a plan to put into action which wouldn't have happened without the lovely M M ladies !
Take care all.

Yes jillydoll
You are so right we do get stuck in a rut & afraid to change. I hope for you & Kathleen that things work out & everyone who I s stuck Xx

Paisley - seriously, go up to 2 sprays. 1 isn't even a therapeutic dose for us surgical girls, it's barely tickling the ol' estrogen receptors. ;)
I'm now on a 50 patch and can feel it kicking in already (bit more energised, boobs making an appearance etc.). As I've got no idea how long it'll take me to source my supply of 3 months worth of proper Estrogel up here, I thought i'd better in the meantime. We can do this together, ok? I'm just as wary as you, trust me! xxxx
-
Tempest good luck with upping the patch & yes you are so right I just don't know why I'm not doing it. I will do it I promise. Just need to gear myself up to increase it. I do make hard work for myself & good luck sourcing the oestrogel
