Title: Estrogel/mirena...and started to bleed
Post by: Noheroicsplease on June 09, 2018, 11:42:19 AM
Hi, i'm 16 months into a mirena, have been doing 4 pumps of Estrogel a day for the past 2 months and this past few days, I've started bleeding a fair bit.

Could it be because I missed a few days of estrogel by accident? Not in a row, but still

Otherwise, why am I bleeding? Is it normal?

4 pumps of gel is a very high dose and having the Mirena doesn't mean you are guarenteed to be bleed free. Do look at the info on the Mirena I'm this site. It's roughly 60% of women who don't experience some bleeding or spotting with the Mirena in place and I suspect that a high dose of oestrogen would make some bleeding and spotting more likely. You should also check you can feel the strings from the Mirena or have the doctor check it is still in place - it can fall out. DG x

Hi, I have a Mirena and I'm on everol 100 patch which is equivalent to about 4 pumps of gel and have been told by my menopause Dr that I can add a couple of pumps of gel as well, she said the extra oestrogen would probably result in some spotting but should settle down after a few months.
Unfortunately I'm one of the 40% that still bleeds regularly with a Mirena anyway!  >:(

Hi all, I'm also on Mirena and 4 pumps of oestrogel. I'm only 5 months in though and told could spot until month 6. It has got a lot less though and very intermittent too, so what I'm trying to say is that you may settle when your body is used to the increased oestrogen level.
Jinja, I've been wondering if I could ask for that combination but I'm not seeing the meno specialist again until August. I've been feeling increasingly tired in the 4 pumps which I take in the morning. I tried splitting but if I don't have the 4 in the morning I get back ache and feel even more tired in the afternoon/early eve.
I think I need blood tests to determine if I'm absorbing the gel well. Did you have blood tests and your oestrogen was low still? Was it a meno specialist who let you have patches and gel? I think i need more oestrogen.
I haven't been on here for a while so hope all are okay xx
