I was on the Elleste solo me 40 but had awful breast pain so my go told me to stop using it be then put me on ovestin vaginal cream i have been using it for two weeks in having awful headaches and have been feeling sick the last few days has anyone else has the same thing x
-
Ovestin is such a low dose and virtually none will be absorbed systemically so I doubt the headaches are as a result of the Overton.
Digestive issues often arise when meno hits and it's worth looking at diet to see if a few changes could help. Try smaller meals more regularly through the day. Headaches can often occur when blood sugar levels drop or you perhaps eat something sugary that gives an instant high but then a subsequent rapid drop in blood sugar can cause a headache.
Try eating a few cashew nuts or a banana in between meals but have smaller meals 3 times a day that are highly nutritious. Cut right down on sugar and big amounts of carbohydrates. Cut out coffee and reduce tea - try drinking peppermint tea.
For a treat try Nairn's ginger oat biscuits to nibble is you do feel nauseous. Don't take aspirin or ibuprofen for a headache as these will make you feel sick - just stick with paracetamol. DG x

Hi dancing girl i do crave sweet things especially jelly babies i do have a couple of packets a week otherwise my dies consists of bananas grapes porridge, meats, potatoes, rice, decaff tea and coffee and 3 pints of water a day carrots, cabage, small amount of chess and white bread rice crisps and low fat cholesterol friendly spread blueberries, and that's about i t i have acid reflux so my diet is restricted i take fish oil, vitamin c vitamin d and adcal, I have in a so I'm constantly bloated, it's just the sickness feeling has been for about five days now headaches on and off the last few days, xx
-
Try some peppermint tea and a ginger oat biscuit when you're feel nauseous. Sadly more headaches are a typical meno symptom - your hormones levels may be fluctuating or could have done a further drop. Don't forest to do some Mindfulness - if you are stressed in any way then the tension will build. DG x
-
Thank you dancing girl
I am stressed have family issues going on unfortunately and won't be resolved for quite sometime :'(
Flushes have come back with a vengeance to since stopping the elleste and just got over two Escherichia coli water infections so I'm feeling work out and down Thank you for the advice i will try what you have suggested x
-
Your headaches and nausea will be down to all that stress. BE kind to yourself. take care. DG x
-
Juneo, when did you stop the Elleste? A sudden drop in estrogen will cause headaches, as well as GI upset. And this high heat doesn't help either! Also, you're just getting over a nasty infection. Probiotics such as Actimel or Yakult can help to restore the good flora in your gut. I hope this helps a wee bit! xxxx
-
Hi Juneo do you not find fish oil Gives you reflux I did and I also found vit c can irritate the bladder.ecoli is one of the infections that is easier to treat with dmannose have you tried it.its usually caused by bacteria from the bowel hitching a ride to the urinary tract as they're so close together, bottle washing after bowel movements or peeing can help prevent this infection, try and get yourself a copy of Angela kilmartins book where she goes into great detail about this,it's old but still valid today.ive gone around 15 or 16 months now with not one single uti useing every trick in the book to prevent it happening at first it was tiresome now it's second nature and I can go on holiday without worrying myself to death over getting an infection.xx
-
Hi Juneo - have you had a hysterectomy - hence having been taking Elleste solo? If so then if you are suffering from flushes maybe start with a smaller dose patch eg 25 mcg - for a few weeks and gradually work up in dosage if you need to. Initial breast pain should subside after a while - how long did you use it for?
Also your diet does look quite high in carbs especially refined carbs and perhaps cut down on the potatoes, white bread, crisps and rice and swap for low fat protein, and more fruit and veg if you are able to? See if it helps if you gradually make some changes?
Hurdity x
-
Hi daisydot yes the fish oil does agrivate my reflux i didn't think about the vitamin c o might stop them see how it goes, I will get hold of the book and see what it says Thank you for that and I will look into dmannose i go away for two weeks in July and I'm dreading it xx
-
Thank you Tempest i will try the fayakult or probiotics that's a good idea xx
-
Hi hurdity i had a hysterectomy when I was 32 my ovaries were left in had one removed 15 years ago I am now 53 nearly 54 :-\ i used the message for 4 months, and I didn't realise how many carbs in eating until you've mentioned it that's definitely something I need to address Thank you xx
-
The patients encyclopaedia of urinary tract infections is the name of her book juneo and if you have amazon kindle you can download a sample to read online before you buy it.The best dmannose is made by sweetcures and it's best in powder form rather than tablets,I've never had to buy any of that stuff since following her advice and I've never needed another antibiotic.
Don't dread your holiday make a plan to be proactive in solving this once and for all this year and then holidays will excite you again not make you anxious,I was exactly the same but not any more.good luck juneo xx
-
Thank you daisydot I really appreciate your help and advice and everyone else who have been so kind on this forum xx

Your welcome juneo like everyone else we just want you to get well and stay well.xx

Dehydration can cause headaches
I fortunately haven't had any problems with Ovestin. It does what it says on the tin ;-)
Urinarty tract infections mimic vaginal atrophy. Any suggestion of a urine infection must be sent to a laboratory 4 the correct tests and often no anti=biotics are required. I find that KY Jelly or Savlon on the outer lips help keep the whole area supple with no itchy areas.
-
Hi daisydot i managed to get the book on ebay for £4 a bargain looking forward to it arriving x
-
Hi clkd
I'm wondering if the ky is causing an iratation also i drink 3 and a 1/2 pints of water a day and 3 cups of decaff tea so I will look into it Thank you x
-
Stop the decaf tea - the tannins in decaf tea will still irritate. It is a range of strategies that will get things back on track - it takes time I'm afraid and there will still be blips along the way.
I indulged in a cup of tea last Friday and I was burning for 2 days afterwards. DG x

That's great juneo you'll enjoy it she's very down to earth.Try and get some vagisil prohydrate for your external vag area it's so good I know not a lot of people use it but I find it excellent and ok it's around a fiver on amazon or in boots but it lasts for ages and it's my lube of choice before the others I've tried them all and it's the most pleasant one to use. When I first started with this uti and v.a carry on I was going through different stuff like nobodies business desperate for some kind of relief so I do know how frustrating and scary it is and all I can do is tell you the shortcuts to the stuff that actually worked for me and hopefully save you a lot of the pain and discomfort that it took me so long to resolve. It won't work for everyone but unless you try it there's no sure way to know.I hope you can get some peace and in a few weeks time look back and say I've done it I'm getting there I'm making progress and a lot of your fears will disappear with it.good luck and you know where I am if any other questions xx ps yes DG has a valid point there too until you get this under control and reduce the inflammation in your bladder cut out the tea go for herbal remedies like redbush or similar they have no tannin or caffeine, decaf do still have both.xx
-
Thank you dancinggirl
I didn't realise decaff still caused problems that's good to know Thank you for letting me know x
-
Hi daisy dot
I have ordered the vagisil prohydrate and will give it a go thankyou, I've been going through this for 3 years and it's got me down I also use the coconut from holland and barrett which has helped only been using it for a couple of weeks, I didn't realise that decaff has tanings in so I will try reddish i have to be careful as I have acid reflux anything else you can recommend drinking water all the time is hard, Thank you for your advice x
-
I know juneo I'm the same and such a quick reaction if I stray.I usually add a tiny slice of lemon to my water in the glass it does make a huge difference and the bonus is it helps the ph balance at the same time.make sure you get tetley redbush VANILLA flavour the pure redbush tastes gross to me and the vanilla is such a lovely sweet cuppa the colour is beautiful too I tend to eat/drink with my eyes if it's not pretty I won't touch lol.its not strictly a tea it's a herb so don't worry about caffeine or tannin I have no reaction at all and it has many more health benefits,I don't get up at all peeing nightly now from 4-5-6 visits every night so I must be doing something right eh? Lol.
Well done about the prohydrate I'm down to using that once daily now.its worth a try for little money when your sore like that.if you get on with it there's an internal version of it too but wait and see how the external stuff is first.good luck juneo I sincerely hope it helps you.xx

Juneo
There is a supplement from America that urologists recommend called Pre Relief - this neutralises acidic food and drinks - it's expensive and you do need to take this with anything acidic every time, so I still prefer to avoid acidic stuff. I do like Peppermint or Fennel tea which are great for digestion anyway. I suffer with acid reflux and find taking digestive enzymes with meals really helps. There are a number of good naturally sourced digestive enzyme supplements available but be careful not to buy one with Senna in it - Senna is a laxative and its not good to take laxatives too often. I can also drink a little 'Ginger and Lemongrass Cordial' in water - it's great hot or cold. DG x
-
Thanks daisy dot I'm the same it comes on so quick :'(I'm the same up twice a night for a wee i never used to be like that the same if I go out as soon as I have a drink of water i need the loo, I will look for the redrush vanilla flavour thanks again it will be great to feel like normal again or somewhere near to normal lol xx
-
Thank you dancing girl
Is there a particular digestive enzyme that you buy that works for you in happy to try what you recommend, I have ibs so senna does not agree with my stomach so I will watch out for that, I've never tried peppermint tea i was worried it would cause problems with my acid i think I've got to the point where I've been scared to try anything I was told two years ago I have a short segment of barrett s osophagus which I have regular scopes for so I have to be very careful what I eat and drink o went through a bad patch when I was told this it was a shock, up to now there's been no changes in due another scope in October so hopefully it will be the same then just another thing to worry about Thank you for your advice and help xx
-
I'm going to do a personal message to you with my suggestion. DG x
-
Ok Thank you xx

Quickly in and out this morning:
you may feel sick too because there is little 'substance' in your diet. We need a mix so although you R eating a lot of veg and fruit, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of 'staying' foods that fill the digestive tract. A good breakfast is essential: porridge, bananas, mixed fruits, a good muesli. Meat and fish, cheese occasionally ......... something to bulk the gut so that it 'works', if mine is empty I soon become weak and woolly ::)
-
Thanks clkd
I do have a banana every day, I can't eat much fruit as it effects my acid :'( i have porridge every other day to much fibre effects my ibs. It's hard getting a balance, I did see my go yesterday he thinks in feeling sick because my ppi ranitidine has been reduced by my specialist a couple of months ago I don't know what to do for the best sometimes I do eat meat and chicken. He said my recent blood tests show i need to have another full blood count next month and also be wants my bloods done again to check a liver blood test result :-\. These will be done in July my cholesterol was 6.2 he said not to worry I am a bit shocked as it's always been ok. I've asked to get my thyroid checked again as I'm so tired x

Hi daisy dot
What a good read i will definitely be buying red clover and doing the recommendations in her book ok learnt more about what's been going on with me than any of my go consultations she explains so much in her book, I will be starting a fresh and today is my first day of following her plan thanks again x
-
Hi juneo I'm really chuffed for you.its such a simple process that we can all do she really opened my eyes so good on you for being open minded and willing to try new approaches.sod the invasive stuff.
If you knew how much money I've wasted booking holidays then cancelling because of that crippling fear of getting Ill because if uti.s etc you'd cringe but not any more now I know I can avoid them and if the worst happens I can deal with it very promptly.dont let it rule you take your life back and bloody enjoy it we only get one crack at it.bet your so optimistic for Julys holiday now.well done you xx
-
Hi daisy dot
I am optimistic now it's opened my eyes and it explains so much I feel I can make sense of things now even down to things as simple as sugar etc. I feel more confident and prepared if that makes sense Thank you x
