There are a few reasons why we don't move, mainly stuff! but I love my pond and garden so much, have invested £1,000 in the last 30 years and our neighbours are approachable. I am never bored.
Durham - in the City or surrounding area
Warwick - as above
Rothbury
close to Rutland Water - too expensive
Castleton [Derbyshire] - not large enough gardens ::)
Isle of Skye - OK 1 day a year ;D and too windy to grow much
Dornie or surrounding area
Plockton
Brighton - too expensive
Rye - as above
Mid-Wales - outside of a town or in a village [would be returning 'home']
Chester area - love the Zoo
Things we like doing: walking; sitting by water; museums; antique shops; garden centres; National Trust; hill meandering; Zoos.; watching the sea; fishing; buying and sending post cards; watching lambs in the Spring ......... art galleries

I've not had a postcard for years I loved them as a youngster especially the naughty ones,we should all do that more now I miss them.
I miss Scotland sometimes, especially my old family but I have my new family based here now I couldn't leave them again.
I could live in Spain again but only the permitted six months that's always been enough for me so 6 months there then 6 months here I may even do that again now I'm well.lol.
-
I would love to live in the countryside,
peaceful, wildlife, no one around, cottage style house, or
somewhere like Spain, you can get some good bargains out off the beaten track,
BUT, I'm scared of living anywhere like that because if something was to happen to
OH, I'd be left there all on my own. :'(
And I worry about things like that now that I'm
older. We should have done it years ago, I'd be used to it by now, so maybe I wouldn't
be worried if I ever had to be on my own.
Maybe in the next life.......

Countryside ain't peaceful ;D - see my comments in the other thread

I could live in Lanzarote, I have family there so wouldn't be too much of a wrench but I would miss my family here and grandchildren. I think the idea of a few months here and the winter there would work as the weather really depresses me here in the winter and that way i'd have best of both worlds.

I like the same with a few adjustments ;D if I go for a walk there must be cake at the end of it, I don't send post cards but I do what's app photos to my family, love aquariums and I love watching sport on the sofa or live but I can't abide cricket ::)
I have been to some beautiful places on holiday but I couldn't live anywhere else :)
-
My OH could live in lanzarote too.
He loves it there.
Think it's far too hot for me in the summer months though,
Maybe I could fly back over here in June, then go back October,
That would suit me just fine. Lol
Think we'll have to find a place to live first though. Lol
Or we could just sleep on the beach every night, like we're young and
got no cares in the world. Then again, don't think my back would appreciate that... lol

;D. oh I forgot the :cupcake:
'too expensive' means prices outside our range. By about £100,000 ::).
I did wonder about selling up and buying a small flat somewhere on the coast, then renting a place for 6 months i.e. in Grassmere, then in Brighton, then in .......... but the thought of not having a garden to access :-\

On the moon, away from impolite people
and their dogs.!!!!
-
Oh it's cold on the moon ;D
What 8 records could you take? ;)
-
Well, off the top of my head CLKD, I would take,

Born Free....Matt Monroe.....( because mom liked him and we played that at her funeral)
Sweet Child of Mine.......Guns nRoses. (One of my favourites)
Don't Takeaway the Music...Tavares (because I don't know what I'd do without my music)
Can you Hear Me....Bowie.......(from Young Americans album)
Panic in Detroit....Bowie..........(from Aladdin Sane album)
Soul Love.....Bowie........(from the Rise n Fall of Ziggy Stardust.)
And......
One Vision......or Bohemian Rapsody.......Queen.
There's loads more, but I would defo take those with me,
How about you,, what would you take......

Cyprus is my heavenly place. Have had many fantastic holidays there and always found the locals helpful. Back down to earth a holiday is not the same as real life alas!
-
Hi krystal,
Never been to Cyprus but we've been looking for next year,
Fingers crossed, else it'll be lanzarote again,
Where's the best place to go there do you know?
Any suggestions would be gladly excepted.
Thanx. Jd x
-
Hi jillydoll,I went to protaras in Cyprus,it was the best place I have been to
Lisa xx

I love where I live surrounded by trees and walks in a river valley, but since developing aspergillus mould allergy it's not ideal. I'm coping at present, but there are times when I wish I could live near the sea with fresh air. It has been suggested that living in a desert would suit me! Mmm.......maybe not!
-
Hi lisa1966
Protaras......my OH was looking at Phapos. (Think I've spelt it right)
I've told him I think I read that's the most expensive, but he won't have it.
He's a bloke ent he, won't admit anything..hehehe
Ok anyway, I'll check protaras out. Thanx babe...
Jd xx
Oh yeah, how you doing hope you feel a bit better..xx
-
Pathos is where they have the marina used to be quite upmarket haven't been for years Jd.f you like beachy then Limassol is your kind of place a lot busier too but again I've not been back to Cyprus for years so probably lots of changes.look on trip advisor for reviews before you book xx
-
France. I haven't been there for a while but whenever I've visited and had to leave the place, I've felt quite sad.
-
Yeah will do daisydot,
We're only talking about it at the mo,
Probably end up back in lanzarote. ::)
Which I'm not moaning about, it's lovely there, but when you've
been there a dozen times, I think it's time for a change. :)
And we've both settled on Cyprus. So fingers crossed, we'll go there. :)

Well all being well I'm off to Benidorm again next Wednesday I just feel safe there because I know it and I know if anything happens I know exactly how and where to get help plus it's only a couple of hours away.
Got a few family dramas going on so hopefully it'll have calmed down by then and we'll still get away.
I love my holidays there and I've lived there and don't wanna do it again lol.
-
Ahhh family dramas,
Know them sooooo well,
Hope it sorts itself out daisydot,
These things usually do.

Cyprus - depends what you like for a holiday. I love the Paphos side but know many people who dislike it and prefer Protaras. The first time we went to Protaras we had a hotel exclusive to Thompson and it was up against a busy road and directly across the road from a building where all the holiday reps from the island seemed to stay. It was very noisey throughout the day and night. If it was not traffic then it was the hotel deliveries and then at three in the morning the reps had a party most nights/mornings! The resort of Protaras is good and you have everything you can expect from a holiday destination. Aya Napa is for the young and any age who enjoy a good party 24/7 . Paphos Harbour is where the holiday scene is on the west side of the island. We stayed along the coast north of Paphos close to Coral Bay it was a lot quieter than Protaras but there was still the opportunity to join in Paphos life via a very good bus service or car hire. It depends what you want from a holiday. Good weather is always guaranteed. The locals tell you not to come between October and March as the weather is not that good. For a day out I would suggest a trip into the Troodos Mountains. Again if you are a culture vulture there is a lot of history on the island. As someone has already said check Trip Advisor and make up your own mind as we all have different ideas on what their holiday should be. Happy Holidays. xxxxxxx :) :) :)

But to be fair, as long as he can sunbathe n do nothing for 2/3days, he's a
happy chappie...good one, I'll check it out.....thanx
