Post by: Sukhi42 on May 13, 2018, 07:39:53 AM
Please advise effects of Mirena - i an 42 with no ovaries but HRT patches causing heavy periods every TWO weeks!

I have Adnemyosis- I just feel lost but shall I try the Mirena coil? Does it hurt? Does bleeding stop? Do you put on lots of weight? 😌

Thanks 🙏🏽

I have had a Mirena for two years, slightly uncomfortable when I had it fitted but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be and I have not had any weight gain.

I was fitted with the coil 2.5 years ago to treat my heavy bleeding.  I don't regret having it fitted at all, despite having spotting for first 6 months.

Also in the first few months I felt a bit groggy, slightly low and headachy - these symptoms disappeared as my body adjusted.

Im just about to swap mine over for a new one after having one fitted just over 4 years ago. After 2 decades of being on a variety of contraceptive pills and hating every one for various reasons, its the best decision i ever made. No side effects, no weight gain and no period
