Hi twarno1234

Welcome to this forum you will find lots of help and advice on here.
Now I am 59 have been on Everol  conti 50 patches for 10 years now and still have my womb the patches are a combination of oestrogen and progesterone which is what you must have if still got a womb you cant be on oestrogen  only otherwise you will have problems I.e thickening of the womb lining and putting yourself at risk . I didn't have panic attacks I must admit I can advise the hrt did help with hot sweats but it took about. 3 weeks before you see any benefits so please don't give up on it .they normally give you 3months at a time and then see how you go if it suits you etc  hope you Do get some benefit from hrt but if you are not happy after 3 months then go back Tom your doctor to discuss other options

Good luck and remember you are not alone

Hi There thanks for your reply I just  don't think Hrt works for me I never had anxiety until I started with them it's a horrible feeling to deal with.. I have now taken the patch off as I really think my panic attack are caused by them I've read a lot about magnesium for menopause so I'm gonna give that a go this forum is so helpful as after reading other people's post I realise that nobody is alone with their symptoms any advice is welcome as to alternative to hrt as anyone used serenity cream ? Thanks for your reply xx

You say you didn't have anxiety before you went on hrt if you are on patches they are suppose to lessen the side effects and not heard that hrt gives you anxiety but if you are really u happy with using hrtthen maybe have a word with your doctor Andy see if you can try something else .it does seem to be a lot of trial and error when you go through the menopause what suits one doesn't suit anotheryou have to find something that works for you which can take a little while but it's a bad time having to get used to how your body is changing and how your feeling let alone finding something that helps you get through it. But please talk to a doctor or menopause nurse if that helps you really shouldn't have to suffer.

Hi.  If you are on Evorel Sequi HRT you should have two different types of patches. For the first two weeks the patches contain only oestrogen but for the second two weeks a progesterone (Norethisterone in this case) is added in. This type of HRT gives you a monthly bleed.  I'm not sure how long you have been on the patches but Norethisterone can cause panic, anxiety and PMT type symptoms such as low mood and depression in some women (me included) so this may be why your anxiety is worse? FemSeven which is another patch HRT has a different progesterone which you may get on better with. As you have not had a period for over a year you could be prescribed a conti HRT which gives continuous oestrogen and progesterone and, after the initial  few months, shouldn't give you any bleeding. You will always need to have progesterone while you have an intact womb in order to protect you from endometrial cancer. FemSeven is available in sequi or conti packs. You could also try a gel and separate progesterone.

What menopausal symptoms are you experiencing other than the horrible panic and anxiety?

hi ladies thanks for your advice. I'm going back to the doctors again tomorrow to see if they can help. Does your GP do a blood test to see what Oestrogen and progesterone you need? How can they just give you a HRT patch without determining this? I don't have many hot flushes or dryness, it's just the panic attacks and anxiety, he prescribed me a low anti-depressant which I took for three days then stopped as they made me feel not like me.. So any advice on what my GP can do for me now would be great as I want to go in the surgery with as much info as I can... They ha 8) I've done a blood test to confirm the menopause but is there further test to see what my hormones levels are and what my body needs....

Hi Ladies, I went back to the doctors again with some research under my belt this time... I told her I didn't need anti-depressants as a quick fix I told her I wanted my bloods checked, She'd already confirmed I am on the menopause with a previous blood test. Now she is checking my Oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone levels and referring me to a menopause clinic. I spoke to her about the menopause and she had to google what I was talking about.... I was more informed than she was. My FSH levels were 58 and she said some other levels were high... Hopefully, when my blood test come back they can identify what I need. How can any GP prescribe HRT when they don't know what it is you need..... I think I'm becoming an expert on this menopause... Also I have bought a magnetic bracelet... if you read about it it helps with the menopause too. So, just taking a few Kalms when needed at the moment, no propanol, or clitropam.. lasted three days only on both.. What are normal levels of fsh for menopause Ladies? Thanks ;D
