Title: Mirena coil
Post by: Emma L on April 06, 2018, 06:51:37 AM
Hi everyone

I had the mirena coil fitted on tuesday. I read that over the first month or so to keep checking that the strings are still present. I could feel them on Tuesday but now i cant seem to find them. Should i be worried?

They can curl up, I have never been able to feel mine though, were you told to make a coil checkup appointment for six weeks after fitting?

The Mirena strings often go upwards so you can't feel them.  If you feel around the neck of the Cervix you may find them. It's rare for the Mirena to move or drop out. Hope it works well for you.  Are you using oestrogen alongside? Do expect some bleeding and spotting at first.  DG x
