Anyone tried otc urostemol feminine capsules for frequency? Until I get to gp next week I'm desperate. Just bought replens as well!! Bleeding menopause costs a fortune!!😩
-
Hi Sphere - I haven't tried them but I would think it's best to wait until you've seen your GP so that you can give a true picture of how you are?
Are you also suffering from stress incontinence or just the irritable bladder symptoms?

Use an over-the-counter pain relief as well!

Just constant feeling like peeing. Plus down below just doesn't feel right!!😩 had anti b and it doesn't feel like infection. See doc next wed but have to work and it's on my mind whole time. Quite a lot of bloating too. No pain as such just discomfort and feels odd!!

Are you using any HRT or topical oestrogen?
-
It does sound as if you would benefit from topical oestrogen if no infection has been found. Do you have to get up many times during the night?

Also have you had a look on our sister site? Details here https://bladdermatters.co.uk/

Sphere27 - you probably have urogenital atrophy that needs local oestrogen treatment e.g. Vagifem. Anti biotics will actually make things worse if you don't have an infection. Any urine tests need to be sent to the lab for proper tests to see if there is infection.
Try drinking a glass of water with half a teaspoon of bicarbonate soda in it morning and evening for a couple of days. Avoid caffeine, fruit juices and anything too acidic but drink lots of water.
Try using some Multi Gyn Actigel ( you can sometimes get this at the chemist but I usually buy it online) as this will restore the flora balance in the vaginal area to reduce irritation. If things “don't feel right†it is highly likely your vaginal flora is not good (common when meno hits) and this will cause irritation and soreness and can result in bacterial vaginitis that will irritate the urethra and cause this constant need to pee.
With regular use of local oestrogen(Vagifem or Ovestin) and vaginal moisturisers ( SYLK or the YES products are the best) you can maintain a healthy environment that reduces these symptoms. DG x

I need Vagifem as well as systemic HRT, I would definitely give it a try if I was you.

I have had urinary urgency for the past year or so, every doctor I have seen told me it had nothing to do with being in perimenopause. They sent so far as to run a bunch of urinary tests, looking inside my bladder, doing a uro-dynamics test to see if my system is working and flowing properly. All came back fine. So when I asked again if it could be related to perimenopause, they still said no but offered no other logical explanation as to why this came on literally overnight. I'm so sick of doctors telling me that my symptoms are not related to perimenopause and that there is nothing they can do to help me. But I am comforted to know reading on here that other women have had this same issue.
-
Sorry to go on but if I had a slight prolapse would I know about it? Just with this discomfort and urinary symptoms wondered if possibility. Can't see anything. My appoint can't come soon enough 😩
-
Many women have prolapses if they've had babies. If you had any major prolapses then this would have been noticed if you're been examined recently.
I have a slight prolapse but not considered an issue. A prolapse could effect bladder function though and if you think you have this then you should be examined. Unfortunately bladder urgency and burning urethra is usually atrophy related. DG x

Yes I know, and that is exactly how I feel, banging my head against a wall. I'm so tired of going to doctor after doctor and no one will help me. I know I'm not imagining the way my body has gone haywire in the past 3 years, and it started right around the time I began having irregular periods. It's all perimenopause, and they basically have proved it by running every other test known to mankind on me and finding nothing wrong. I just keep searching for a doctor to help me. Maybe one day I'll find one.

I hear you! Maybe a chat with a Practice Nurse or your local Pharmacist, they have private rooms these days. Ask him/her if some Surgeries are better at supporting Menopause than others? Ask him/her to look up treatments 4 atrophy and take it along to the Nurse, or print off some of the comments on here? This can be treated successfully.

I'm trying one more time with my general doctor tomorrow - if she won't help, I will try to find gynecologist that will help me.

Ask for a referral? Your GP should be able to send you to a Consultant.

Yes, I will do that. I am also printing out as much information that I can about the symptoms to show her that I'm not crazy, all of these symptoms can and do happen with women. Maybe not all, maybe not even the majority, but it does happen to some of us and it can be completely debilitating.
-
If you are crazy then we all are ;D - her time may well come ...........

Update
Prescribed vagifem. So hoping that will sort me. Any side effects I should expect? Thanks again. Helps I can go in with info xx
-
Hi sphere that's great after you do your initial two week dose you will feel a huge difference,I felt it within days I must have been like an old prune downstairs but the important thing was I had no more urinary symptoms don't look for problems give the vagifem a chance and continue to use lubricants so vagifem at night lubricants on outer areas during the day, something like yes or sylk or vagisil prohydrate are all good lubricants,it's trial and error to get one that suits.my gps will have to kill me now to get me off vagifem lol it's a lifetime task now VA doesn't go away it's just controlled.good luck and well done.xx
-
Hi just to say I've been using vagifem for 10 days now and certainly feel the difference. Thanks for all the advice girls xx
