Hi all, Firstly, how wonderful you have this forum,
I have always suffered from depression/anxiety/insomnia and medication has always helped but since i turned 50 in October my periods stated going erractic and i feel that i am in this dark hole of treacle i can't get out of! The joy of life has gone, where?
I Cry for no reason, and just can't get to sleep like i used to. { red wine very nice but not the answer} I know i sound like a looney but when evening creeps in i dread the night as i am up all hours with chronic anxiety even watching the telli reruns with the deaf sign language in the corner that they put on when everyone is meant to be in bed!
Dr put me on elleste duo 1 on day 4 (i know i'm impatient} feel even worse than i did before >:(
So very sorry for my moan, moan, moaning. Husband trying to be kind but recently been going for very long dog walks to escape my miserable face. My {poor dog exhausted too much for him he crashes in his dog bed upon return he is nearly 12} Anyway thank you for letting me type this rant any messages of light at the end of tunnel will be greatly appreciated XXX

:welcomemm:
I'd start by having a look through the threads - search for topics you're interested in.
You've come to the right place to moan ;)
The HRT journey takes a bit of time to juggle so hang in there - it's definitely trial and error :D

Hi Pepsi!
Sorry to hear you are feeling worse having just started the Elleste - it often takes a few weeks to settle down on a particular HRT and for your body to get used to getting additional hormones externally.
When you say your periods have become erratic - do you mean the bleeeding or the cycle length or both? Do they come more often or do they come late, or perhaps you have skipped the odd one?
You mention depression and other medication - some of these (meds) also help with hot flushes and for women like this (ie who don't get flushes because of taking some anti-depressants) it is not always obvious to them or their doctors that their other symptoms (mood swings or low mood, fatigue etc) are due to menopause. However at your age and with your cycle changes then even in the absence of flushes and sweats ( you didn't mention these) any new symptoms are likely to be hormonal.
The good news is that for most women HRT will help - although sometimes you do need to try a few before settling on one that suits you. Some women just try one type for 3 months - get side effects and give up for ever saying "HRT is rubbish"!!!!
You may find that the HRT stabilises your cycle and you should most likely get a withdrawal bleed towards the end of or just after the combi pills ( the second lot in the packet), but sometimes your own hormones break through so you get a bit of bleeding at the "wrong" time too.
As Salad says - "hang in there" and hope it works for you soon :). Do keep us updated....

Hi Pepsi and welcome!
We all know what you are going through on the menopause- its all consuming isn't it!! I've just started taking Femiston as was really suffering - but don't think it's had time to kick in yet so still feeling miserable etc! I'm going to try and persevere with it though- but have had period -like pains today 🙄
Lots of fantastic advice on here so keep checking for replies to your posts! Xx

Hi,
Thank you for your kind support.
Given up on Elleste, felt like i was being shot with adrenaline. The anxiety unbearable, couldn't sleep or get any peace. Could hardly breathe. Just crying like a mad woman on and off. I even cried and laughed at the same time at one point my son of 24 looked on at me horrified! My bleeding is both, longer in cycle can go on for 2 weeks. Then stops for 5 days then spotting on and off all the time. Pretty messed up like me.
I have decided to try the bio identical hormone route. I have been in contact with the London Hormone Clinic who requested some bloods to be drawn from my GP a few weeks ago. I now have to results so I have made a appointment for Monday afternoon and am hopeful they will be able to help me.
There was a really interesting article the Daily Mail published on Carol Vorderman. It was like reading my life story. She was so brave to admit she was almost driven to suicide with her menopause. I have copied the link below, i hope it will help some other ladies. xxxxx
