				Hello ladies :)
Could you let me know your thoughts if dizziness is a peri symptom please? Today whilst at work sitting at my desk I felt really dizzy almost like I was going to faint :(  It lasted a few minutes then passed a bit but since then I was feeling a bit lightheaded on and off. It's certainly not constant.
Looking at my symptom tracker app I've started using I can see I had mild dizziness this time last month. IT would be a day after what would have been my due on date (I had a partial hysterectomy keeping ovaries in October last year), although last month it wasn't quite as bad just moments rather than a couple of minutes.
I didn't have a headache or feel particularly stressed, my sleep is problematic at the moment so I dare say a lack of sleep probably isn't helping.
I've spoken to my GP and she's open to me taking transdermal estrogen but wanted me to let things settle a bit after my surgery first.
Is it likely to be estrogen deficiency? I don't want to take estrogen and make it worse?
A month or so ago I had a full range of bloods taken and everything came back ok. My thyroid, vit d anemia and fbc.
Please let me know if I need to post all my other symptoms, although it may take up lots of forum room! ;D
Thank you for any help xx

Dizziness was one of my first peri symptoms. It made me nervous in case I fainted in public x

Dizziness is one of the worst symptoms, I also suffer with low blood pressure so this doesn't help. My doc said to drink plenty of water as dehydration can cause dizziness too.

Eat regularly.  It could be a sudden drop of blood sugar.  This can trigger anxiety attacks and can leave one feeling light headed.  If this is occurring at the same time each month, maybe keep a diary?

Thank you for your posts, it really was unsettling  :-\  I tested my blood pressure last night when I got home and it was optimal, that doesn't mean to say it was at work though. I'll definitely start to drink more water and graze more, thank you!
In your experience did taking estrogen help? I'm 49 so may have a little while of this peri nightmare ahead so I'm grateful for any experiences, thank you! X

It didn't for me but the deeper I got into menopause it lessened.  I still sometimes get it x

Thank you for your reply, I wonder if it's the fluctuation hormones in peri that can make dizziness more regular  :-\  this journeys such fun!  ::)

Hi smitten my private meno consultant confirmed that meno does cause dizziness/light headedness,I've had a few bad falls so please be careful,I would add that since being on hrt my balance has drastically improved,I have vertigo and an imbalance in my inner ear caused by one of these falls and since hrt resumed after 5-6 year absence I'm feeling so much better.xx

Those fluctuations can cause havoc in the body (and mind)
But yes I think most symptoms are worse during peri x

Thank you for the info Annie xxx one thing I hate is not knowing what the day is going to pan out like you can never be prepared :(
I'm also going to get another vit d test just to make sure I don't need to up my dose of that, I think it's likely pesky hormones though xx

Hi ladies, I've not had vitamin d bloods back yet but I've decided the diziiness is really effecting me, I walked into the dentist this week and the heat hit me nd I thought I was about to pass out briefly. I don't even think it was overly hot in there but when I'm hot it's definitely worse :( today whilst sitting at my desk it's come on again on and off.
I've booked a GP appt to talk about transdermal estrogen. I feel as if my hormones are mega playing up after my hyster I can't even drive currently so I can't carry on like this, thanks for listening to my rant xxxx

I started with the dizziness about 18-20 months ago. At the time I didn't relate it to perimenopause at all. Just thought it was stress and me being silly ,getting up too quick etc. But then I realised it was worse at certain times of the month. I put up with it for a fair few months. Then after I'd been put on BCP it seemed to go away. I've noticed that now I'm no longer on BCP again the monthly dizziness has resurfaced. I'm the same it's worse when I get too hot, it's become a common thing in our staff room that I get too hot and have to sit by the open window. I can't stand being too hot anymore as it doesn't make me feel good.
I'm on Vitamin D,B12&B6,magnesium and evening primrose oil.
Hope you get some answers and something to help.

Three weeks ago my husband experienced dizziness when getting up during the night and fell over in the bedroom..he had other episodes of dizziness when riding his bike and had numerous spills. During Easter weekend while shopping he started making no sense whatsoever while talking using the wrong words etc., we got him to the hospital within minutes as its not far away and he had had a stroke. Thankfully it was a mini stroke and not the full blown one and his speech has come back to almost normal although his memory is still not the same. So yes dizziness does happpen during meno but watch out that it might be something a little more serious not to scare anyone but please be careful.

Oh goodness that must have been terrifying :( so fortunate you lived close to that hospital!

Yes dizziness definitely a big thing for me more so post menopause. Last on and of for a while then nothing for a few months. Hope it's soon better  :o :)
