Title: Sandrena Gel

Hi! Can I just ask has anyone else come out in a spots on their legs that itch, and felt like their legs are on fire with swollen ankles with Sandrena Gel, I'm not sure whether to continue or not, do these side effects get better, I have emailed and left a message for my consultant on Monday but still no reply, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? Thanks

Hi robotwars - looks like no-one has come across these side effects. I'm sorry I can't help as I haven't used oestrogen gel but it does sound like some sort of allergic reaction rather than a normal side effect as such?

One of the ingredients - Trolamine (or triethanolamine) can be associated with allergic reactions as mentioned here https://www.thedermreview.com/triethanolamine/ - I assume it's not just scare-mongering! Scroll down to read about short-term side effects:

Short Term Side Effects

There are also a number of short-term side effects associated with triethanolamine. Allergic reactions are common and can cause watery or itchy eyes, brittle or dry hair, and itchy skin. In the long term, this chemical can cause damage to the skin that includes scaling, blisters, and a burning sensation when the products are applied. If you believe you are allergic to triethanolamine or have any concerns about its effects on your health, discuss its uses with your dermatologist.

Not sure whether this sort of reaction can occur when it is very dilute  :-\

That is an American website though as it talks about FDA.

Another ingredient that could cause a reaction is Propylene glycol - but this is als in many products eg cosmetics. This is found in Sandrena gel but not Oestrogel.

The full list of ingredients for Sandrena apart from estradiol is here:

Ethanol 96 %
Carbomer 974P
Trolamine
Propylene glycol
Water, purified

Yes me .....when I was on sandrena my thighs where one mass of little pus spots I stayed on it for a year stupidly. 

Swapped to oestrgel pump , went within two weeks.

Thankyou so much for your replies,
I have an appointment tomorrow with the nurse at my GP surgery thought I might ask her for some advice and see what she says, interesting about changing to the oestogel, I think I need to look into this.

Oestrogel is great robotwars really consider it I've found it much better than pills or patches,highly recommend xx
