Title: Dr Studd
Post by: DBean on February 14, 2018, 09:06:18 AM
Hi,

I am 36 years old and I think I'm going through early peri-menopause. My mother and grandmother both stopped their periods very early. My symptoms include night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, depression, fatigue, migraines, head pressure, brain fog.

I went to see Dr Studd on Monday and he prescribed 3 pumps of oestogel and testosterone with progesterone to start in two months. Just wondered if there was a best time of day to apply the gels and if other people had experience of using them and whether/when u noticed improvements.

Thanks

I don't use prog but use oestrogel and testosterone gel and personally I prefer to use them in the morning .  There's zero transfer risk to anyone else.  If I'm showering or getting jiggy with hubby I use them after!

Oestrogel eliminates my night sweats and testosterone has helped massively with my social anxiety and wellbeing and energy

Hope this helps and good luck x

Hello DBean

I'm a relatively new patient of Professor Studd's (since last October), and am on the exact same combination/dose as you.

My hot flushes, night sweats, terrible sleep, anxiety, fogginess, lack of energy, aches, feeling down all disappeared pretty much completely within about three weeks, although within a few days I felt significantly better. In fact, I felt really amazing for about two months, but then ran into some problems (upset stomach, sleep disturbances) and I'm trying to work out what's going on.

I apply the gels at night, but don't have any transfer risks as sleep alone.

Hope that helps,

luna x

I have tried oestrogel at a variety of times including morning, midday and evening.  I haven't really noticed any difference in myself so I would say go for what is convenient and see what happens.

Thanks so much for your replies. I started the gels on Monday and have felt more anxious the last two days. Is it normal to feel a bit worse in the beginning as my body adjusts?

Also, when and how did you receive your blood test results from Dr Studd? I haven't received an email or anything yet.

Do any of you feel like your going crazy at times and have horrible thoughts like you can't control your mind properly?

Thanks

I felt anxious starting oestrogel but mainly because I was putting a new drug into my system.  Once I realised I was okay on it I calmed down.  My anxiety and mental health became a lot worse when the perimenopause started (and I am not alone).  In fact I'd say the mental health aspects were the worst symptoms I had and I needed more than just HRT to help me.

HI Dbean, I definitely felt much worse starting the oestrogel. It took a good month for things to settle down a bit
