Title: PROPER OESTROGEL
Post by: Meeka on January 30, 2018, 11:25:22 AM
Hello Everyone,

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'm one of the women who has been given Oestrodose by my local Chemist.   Ive been using four pumps but my oestrogen level remains low at 140 pmol/L.

I have contacted the chemist and asked if I can please have the Oestrogel as this is what is prescribed by my Gynea who says it is the most effective.  They seem happy to help but are confused about which brand is actually oestrogel.  They have asked for the lab name .  They showed me an alternative bottle they have in stock but this seemed to be called Estrogel not Oestrogel??   I am not sure what the correct Oestrogel looks like as its so long since I actually had it.  Could anyone let me know who the actual makers of Oestrogel are or give a link to a photograph of the box?  Also , is it Estrogel or Oestrogel that I require?
Many thanks.

for instance, is this the proper oestrogel?

Hello
I have the proper stuff! Just got mine recently.  Mine is the same shape as that but it is a different colour.  It's pale turquoise and white, in the same cylinder shape container.
It says Estrogel Pump Pack - 17B, 80 gram gel.  Its made by Besins Healthcare.

When I had the other gel before, it was a different shaped bottle, more like an old vosene shaped bottle.  Hope this helps.

So frustrating when this happens  >:(

My Oestrogel was in a white/gold bottle rather than the White/turquoise that the Oestrodose comes in. The last lot was Oestrodose with an Oestrogel label stuck on top  :o
Have you tried researching online for the manufacturer? Then you could contact them to ask how to get hold of their product.

Good luck in your quest!

For what it's worth, my Oestrogel sounds the same as MIS71MUM's. Turquoise and white box, ditto bottle, both saying Oestrogel Pump-pack, 17B estradiol, 80 gram gel, Besins Healthcare. I hope it's the real McCoy!

Have you thought of trying Sandrena gel Meeka - it is more concentrated so you may get better absorption? Failing that you might be someone who is better off with a patch (I'm sure you've tried them) eg Estradot 100 mcg?

Hi Hurdity,

Ive only ever used Oestrogel/Oestrodose .      Is Estradot 100 mcg equivalent to 4 pumps of Oestrogel?

Thank you

Thank you everyone for clarifying which one is oestrogel.

Was it this one?

I think there is no exact equivalent - just low medium and high on average - but this won't necessarily be the same for you. 4 pumps is high and so is 100 mcg! Do you still have ovaries? I just think that for large amounts of gel a patch might be more convenient - but that is an individual choice! I thought it might be worth a try if you are still suffering and not achieving a decent level of oestrogen - I would have thought 5 pumps might be impractical?

I had this conversation with my meno specialist who basically laughed at me and said its all oestrogen and has no difference. Oh and your symptoms could in no way be hormone related as I am being treated so I must be depressed. I asked for my oestrogen level to be tested. Fast forward two months and she sends me a letter saying my level was on the low side especially as I use four pumps a day and I have to switch to sandrena. I feel like screaming I told u so!!! Condescending is the word that springs to mind!! Ahhhh

Hi Hurdity,  Yes I still have my ovaries.   Ive got Oestrogel this time so hopefully things will improve.  Its definitely better to use, dries quickly and no sticky residue.
