Title: Prof Studd (Nick Panay and similar) v NHS
Post by: TNM45689 on January 23, 2018, 09:23:53 PM
Hi

I am about to embark on the whole HRT and feel nervous and having got differing views from GPS at my surgery I am not sure if I should fork out to go privately.

Prof Studd is obviously the most well known and I would pay for a consultation but then there are all the add ons (scans, blood test etc) which I cannot afford.

I just wondered if anyone has seen these private clinics - would they recommend or should I just stick with NHS - are all the medications offered by teh NHS or can some only be got privately? Thanks

Hi I would maybe try the GP and NHS firstly. Unfortunately there are not enough gps who are keyed up on menopause and HRT to be able to give expert advice. Most gps appear to offer elleste duet as s first line likely because it's a cheaper option and it suits a lot if women. I know a few women personally who swear by it. Unfortunately there are some of us who can't take that and the journey for the correct HRT can be long but I would definitely try the nhs first. Who knows you may be one of those lucky ladies. Have a look around and write some notes for when you go to your GP. Good luck x
