Title: Should I up my oestrogel?
Post by: Ljp on January 11, 2018, 11:28:03 AM
Hi,
After some advice.
I’ve been on Mirena coil, estring, and oestrogel fir two years.
Despite all that, I’ve had bad vaginal soreness, prickly, atrophy since March, which I can’t seem to get settled.
I’ve tried using estriol cream externally, and many other lotions and potions.
Also had four Mona Lisa laser treatments.
My recent problem has been involving the external skin area around the lower part and back passage, including a rash on the latter, emu oil, and sudocrem seem to be slowly improving things.

I have little faith in my new GP she suggested that most women only need HRT for a couple of years, and said my coil could stay in if I were to stop HRT.

I have always used two pumps of oestrogel, and generally been ok, except this horrible VA, plus terribly dry nails and hair, so I’m considering upping my oestrogel for a few months to see if it helps with these symptoms?
What do you think? Might it be worth a try?

My other consideration would be to try patches instead of oestrogel, as I’ve heard that gels aren’t always absorbed well. But wouldn’t know what to ask for or what strength to try?

Thank you for any advice

I would definitely increase the gel dose and always use some of it on your inner, upper thighs, it helps with VA.

I would stick with the gel because it is more dose flexible.   I found patches didn't stick properly and I couldn't get anything like enough oestrogen out of them which is important if you have a Mirena coil.

I need three pumps of Estrogel to help keep the VA under control.

Thank you, I think I'll try upping to three or even 4 pumps? Before considering g changing to a patch.
If I try this for a month and see how my dryness issues and va symptoms respond, at least I'll know.
Tinkerbell, how long did it take to improve your VA symptoms? We're you originally on a lower dose of oestrogel?

Hi ljp I would stop the sudocrem it's really bad for drying skin out and try switching to cold pressed raw organic coconut oil you'll get a small tub of it in Holland and Barrat for around 2 quid.its antibacterial and doesn't really have a shelf life.if you leave it at room temperature you can just smear it on vaginal lips as and when you feel you need it it gives instant releif for va and keeps the area safer from bacterial infections.yiu can also store in the fridge and it solidifies and you can scoop out and Mould it into pessaries to pop inside vagina.I did this for weeks until I felt healed enough to introduce estriol from gp without having any more pain downstairs.it was a godsend for me I was bleeding badly from sores and razor like cuts before I found this,tr6 it you've nothing to lose, bonus was I also got my pubic hair back couldn't believe it lol it's like a cute wee coconut downstairs again lol.good luck xx

Thanks Daisydot, believe me I’ve tried everything, including coconut oil, this flare up at the moment is more around my bottom area, outer skin near perineum and approach to anus.
I have a slight rash, hence I’m using the sudocrem to try and heal the rash, I’m using emu oil around vagunal skin, and this I’m finding very helpful, just this troublesome area to get some relief/improvement, then I plan to stop the sudocrem and use emu oil to attempt to stop the flare ups.
Does any one else get problems around their bottom area skin? Rash and soreness?

Hi Daisydot, does it have a positive effect even if you don't have the herpes virus?

Yes brainless definitely it's very soothing doesn't sting and is very natural so no nasty chemicals.this particular one comes from Germany.i also have it in a chap stick form as I get really painful cold sores,I don't know if you know much about the herpes virus but we all carry it and under duress or times of poor health it rears it's nasty wee head so I always make sure I'm ready for it lol.

It should help that too it's simly a lemon balm so it's anti viral and is very easy to use.i had a rash on my thigh just at back of it where you would sit,I reckon it was a reaction to a velvet cover on a chair it was prickly and I remember feeling it nagging me at the time but god I had this rash for weeks and everything seemed to feed it or dry it out then it'd be straight back so I thought I'll try some Lemon balm on it and it's been clear for a good 6 months now.its only about £6 so worth a try it's not goin* to do any harm.

Sorry if you already know this but lemon balm is a herb which  is calming, soothing and healing unlike the fruit lemon. Makes my eyes water just thinking about using a lemon there  :o

Thank you brainless exactly as you say.
Ljp you should also consider taking a course of multi b vitamins they are a great health booster and would probably help you with your nails hair etc do a bit of research you'll find a lot of good info about them online.

Was on inside thigh spreading round to back of leg looked like pinpricks and very itchy I was worried at time it was herpes virus but put it down to the dirty seat pad spiking my leg,I never could clear that up till I tried the lomaherpan cream and I've never had it back since.hope that helps xx

Ljp sorry but I've used up any ideas to help now,if you've been supplementing like this over a period of time and still seeing no improvements I'd suggest turning to the experts maybe try a private doc if your gp is not helping you and hopefully they can point you in the right direction to get further advice.good luck xx

Perhaps it was molluscum contagiosum,

My daughter had those slighty under bum cheek area was a flaming nusience for months,  i assumed she picked it up from a toilet seat.

Sorry to digress.

Yuk Lynsey just had a look lol no wasn't as severe as that I do think it was the prickly velvet cushion/padding on the chair probably some kind of viral thing as that's what lomaherpan is ideal for as it doesn't allow the virus to surface and kills it off.thank you for suggestion though xx

Thanks for help, I've decided to up my oestrogel (which was my original question I was hoping for help with)
I'm going to try for a month and see if I notice improvement.
Things are improving from using emu oil two/three times daily, and I think it's taken time for recovery from my course of monal Lisa touch treatments too. Quite an intense course, internal and external treatment every four weeks for four sessions.
It's now 7 weeks since my last treatment, the area around my bottom, which has been sore, with rash, is much better now, that area doesn't get treated by, mona lisa laser, but for me, it is affected by VA, and I will see if the treatments caused an inflammatory response which has taken time to settle.
Thank you for all the suggestions, things are much better at the moment, and long may it continue!
