Hello everyone,
I wonder if you can help - I'm 54, post-menopausal (no period since 2012), and came off Microgynon 6 years ago. It probably sounds strange, but since then, I've been losing my eyebrows - I've now lost almost 2/3rds of them. Does anyone know if this is usual?
Many thanks,
Freya

Yes definitely a menopause symptom both me and my sister's all different stages of menopause ave lost eyebrows I got them tattooed on before my Xmas holiday now my sister's are jumping on the band wagon lol I got more hair growth on my chin lately xx
-
Have you had your thyroid tested ?
-
Hi Freya yes definitely I've had no eyebrows for about 20 years I also had no pubic hair then started to use coconut oil down there due to va and gosh the pubic hair didn't have grow back it actually resembles a wee coconut down there now ;D.im not putting it on my eyebrows though I don't want to end up looking like Dennis Healy lol.xx
-
Daisydot, I had to laugh but seriously I think I will try it on my eyebrows after your experience of lady garden regrowth.
-
freya yes mine have been thinning for years, mine are really wide set now but what have is really dark still. I think I'd look with tattoos though.
-
YES!
Post meno I lost the outer third of both eyebrows and eyelashes went really sparse. Since using testosterone my eyelashes are much better and I can curl them again but bits of my eyebrows haven't returned so I fill them in. My thyroid was fine so has to be hormones x
-
Yes Annie agree with you there my eyelashes are now disappearing too so I draw a line along upper lid with soft eyeliner pencil.painless tattoos ;D ;D I'm a coward.
-
Oh daisydot if we can suffer menopause you would be able to tolerate a tattoo trust me I am a coward when it comes to stuff like that but since my eyebrows I ave had a full shoulder to shoulder one lol I am defo having a midlife crisis 😂🤣😃xx

Brave lady ;D ;D

Thank you to all of you - it's a real help, and I'm really grateful! It's good to know it's not just me, and I'm looking into coconut oil... I've had a thyroid test, and it was fine, so it must be the menopause. Thanks again, and for the humour, too - sometimes it can feel pretty bleak (I have ME and Fibromyalgia too), and your lovely comments made me smile. :) Freya xx

Hello ladies.
I just use a pencil to fill in my brows but you can buy eyebrow dye from most chemists so that is another option.
Take care ladies.

I've the same problem and thought it was because I defied my mother and over plucked my eyebrows into pencil straight attractiveness ???
I'm relieved that it's not really my fault! On a positive, I've no underarm hair, 👎 is my chin now thinks it's my armpit 😂 !!
Not sure if we are allowed to mention beauty brands on here but you'll know the company I'm talking about when I say expensive eye brow fillers in a pink+silver box, twist up kind are not worth the extra money. I've tried every pencil/filler going and the best is a cruelty free (boy's name) pencil with brush on one end and waxy, smooth very natural pencil.
About a tattoo, is £225 a lot for both of them and will beautician do the shape I want rather than OTT what she thinks is right?
Thanks
Poppi x
-
Hi ya poppi I payed £180 for both n the beautcian draws them on let's you look n change anything you want before they do anything I had mine do e 18 months ago n still look ok worth every penny specially when it's hot n your sweaty n run the eyebrow pencil off lol I permantly carried mine around when I was on holiday xx
-
Thanks lollipop
I 👀 looked into it and beautician said I had to have lots of appointments in prep for the final thing. I understand this but thought it was more straightforward, she said she can't get it wrong hence the preparations. The shapes she showed me were much bigger than I wanted, I've an elfin type of face shape (pity my body doesn't match :P !)
-
Oh dear lol yourself shape I am elephant shape hah🤣😃 to be honest mine took hour n half tops she was accredited beautcian as well keep searching I am sure you will find somebody xx
-
I've just noticed today my eyebrows have gone awol!! My right one is thinning and my left one is only half left. I pray my head hair doesn't follow as I suffered alopecia as a child x
-
There's a really good product from boots called wunderbrow it's like a mascara tube with a really fine brush and you use it to fill any gaps in eyebrows it's like lots of little fine hairs that you brush n and it gives a lovely natural look,my sparse brows are very fair so I use a blonde tube and it does a great job and last for ages and it's so easy to use.think it's around £20 but I've had mines around a year now.xx
-
Thanks, Daisydot, I'll have a look for it. xx
-
I had mine tattooed just before Xmas and it's the best thing I've done, absolutely love them and worth every penny

Hi
Thought i would just add that the benefit beauty counters do a great range of brow products and they show you how to apply it. I also like the bobbi brown eyebrow stuff.

I've have never really had any lower lashes , my eyebrows seems ok but i do have droopy eyelids i don't think it's a recent thing as i've look at old photos and they look droopy there too , has anyone any tips on creams or gels for that area i have now tried 3 different quite expensive ones and i'm not sure they are making much difference , anyone else tried any?

I use 3 different eye potions. NIOD - eye contour and REN lift and sarah chapman eye
Sometimes all at one but often just depending on how my eyes look and feel in the morning

After reading about the eyebrow tatoos i decided to maybe tint , in the end i have tried maybelline tattoo brow its a gel you apply leave for 20mins - or longer then peel off and it's supposed to last 3 days . i'm quite pleased with the result at the moment , in mornings i don't have time for makeup but now i can actually see my eyebrows , they were there but very light . ;)

Me too, eyebrows nearly gone! Eye lashes too! And the bleach I've been using since I was 16 has made all my hair break off. It's fun this meno business isn't it.
Just paint big clowny ones on - my young female co workers tell me it's all the rage.
