Title: Eyebrow loss
Post by: freya on January 09, 2018, 12:56:45 PM
Hello everyone,

I wonder if you can help - I'm 54, post-menopausal (no period since 2012), and came off Microgynon 6 years ago. It probably sounds strange, but since then, I've been losing my eyebrows - I've now lost almost 2/3rds of them. Does anyone know if this is usual?

Many thanks,

Freya

Daisydot, I had to laugh but seriously I think I will try it on my eyebrows after your experience of lady garden regrowth.

YES!
Post meno I lost the outer third of both eyebrows and eyelashes went really sparse.  Since using testosterone my eyelashes are much better and I can curl them again but bits of my eyebrows haven't returned so I fill them in.  My thyroid was fine so has to be hormones x

Thank you to all of you - it's a real help, and I'm really grateful! It's good to know it's not just me, and I'm looking into coconut oil... I've had a thyroid test, and it was fine, so it must be the menopause. Thanks again, and for the humour, too - sometimes it can feel pretty bleak (I have ME and Fibromyalgia too), and your lovely comments made me smile.  :) Freya xx

Hello ladies.

I just use a  pencil to fill in my brows but you can buy eyebrow dye from most chemists so that is another option.

Take care ladies.

I've the same problem and thought it was because I defied my mother and over plucked my eyebrows into pencil straight attractiveness  ???
I'm relieved that it's not really my fault! On a positive, I've no underarm hair,  👎 is my chin now thinks it's my armpit 😂 !!
Not sure if we are allowed to mention beauty brands on here but you'll know the company I'm talking about when I say expensive eye brow fillers in a pink+silver box, twist up kind  are not worth the extra money. I've tried every pencil/filler going and the best is a cruelty free (boy's name) pencil with brush on one end and waxy, smooth very natural pencil.
About a tattoo, is £225 a lot for both of them and will beautician do the shape I want rather than OTT what she thinks is right?
Thanks
      Poppi x

Thanks lollipop
I 👀 looked into it and beautician said I had to have lots of appointments in prep for the final thing. I understand this but thought it was more straightforward, she said she can't get it wrong hence the preparations. The shapes she showed me were much bigger than I wanted, I've an elfin type of face shape (pity my body doesn't match  :P !)

There's a really good product from boots called wunderbrow it's like a mascara tube with a really fine brush and you use it to fill any gaps in eyebrows it's like lots of little fine hairs that you brush n and it gives a lovely natural look,my sparse brows are very fair so I use a blonde tube and it does a great job and last for ages and it's so easy to use.think it's around £20 but I've had mines around a year now.xx

Hi

Thought i would just add that the benefit beauty counters do a great range of brow products and they show you how to apply it.  I also like the bobbi brown eyebrow stuff.

I've have never really had any lower lashes , my eyebrows seems ok but i do have droopy eyelids i don't think it's a recent thing as i've look at old photos and they look droopy there too , has anyone any tips on creams or gels for that area i have now tried 3 different quite expensive ones and i'm not sure they are making much difference , anyone else tried any?

I use 3 different eye potions. NIOD - eye contour and REN lift and sarah chapman eye

Sometimes all at one but often just depending on how my eyes look and feel in the morning

After reading about the eyebrow tatoos i decided to maybe tint , in the end i have tried maybelline tattoo brow its a gel you apply leave for 20mins - or longer then peel off and it's supposed to last 3 days . i'm quite pleased with the result at the moment , in mornings i don't have time for makeup but now i can actually see my eyebrows , they were there but very light .  ;)

Me too, eyebrows nearly gone! Eye lashes too! And the bleach I've been using since I was 16 has made all my hair break off. It's fun this meno business isn't it.

Just paint big clowny ones on - my young female co workers tell me it's all the rage.
