Hi, I just wondered if anyone has ever been here and whether its worth paying to go privately as feel like I'm getting nowhere on the NHS?
Just don't want to waste my money.

Robot wars - which clinic are you thinking of?

Nuffield hospital in Bristol

I've just got back from Nuffield menopause clinic in Leamington spa.i saw mr Tony Parsons, what an absolute gem of a consultant he's so lovely and so sympathetic.he had no hesitation putting me on oestrogen gel pump changed from patches and vagifem tablets Changed from the oestriol cream (very messy lol) he advised still use the cream though if any soreness around the vaginal lips
He spent the full 45mins + consultation going over everything with me he was so reassuring and gave me lots of good advice,he's referred me for a dexa scan as he's concerned about my bone density due to symptoms I have.it cost me £195 for the consultation and then no other mention of follow ups or private tests he referred me via my gp for scan on nhs without my having to ask or say funds were tight.when I asked about follow up visit he said only if I felt I needed to as he was writing to my gp with details of consultation and recommendations so gp should take care of my needs from now on.he also said give the oustragel a month and if no improvement in libido he will put me on tesrtogel but try the other stuff first as sometimes that's enough.he said he was concerned about my bone density risk factor due to history and symptoms and after scan he may have to put me additional meds to help with this but not to worry.I asked him to give me a private script until his letter got through to new gp which he kindly did so for the oestrogen pump and the vagifem plus script cost me £29 in boots he said it should do me a month till I see gp.
I'm so relieved I'd have absolutely no hesitation going back to him you can also be referred by your gp.on nhs to him but to me I'd gladly pay again even if it means eating sausages for a month lol.

That sounds very positive Daisydot. I'm pleased it went so well for you. Fingers crossed the changes work for you. Please will you let me know how you get on with vagifem in comparison to the cream.

Yes I def will brainless the cream was quite good but I hated putting that same plunger in time after time I was convinced I was feeding myself bacteria lol I'm a bit ott I'm afraid lol.its also easier than lugging a big tube around if I manage to go away anywhere.what a lovely human being he was.
-
Thanks Daisydot That's exactly the thought ive been having around using the plunger. I can't believe its possible to fully clean though I do try. I'm not keen on the sticky mess either. I feel like it makes me sore as it exits my body too. Good luck🍀

Your welcome brainless.he said the vagifem is just a small tablet, not even pessary sized, and comes with its own throw away plunger.im so pleased you have the same feelings lol doesentmatter how much I clean it I hate doing it and of course if your abroad the worry is even more because your not sure of the local water and can't exactly boil your own.
Boots had to order it in so won't get till tomorrow and he said to start as if I'm doing a full two weeks load again then reduce to 2/3 times weekly if aok.xx

Hi robotwars - I did go there but to get testosterone as my main HRT has been on NHS for ever - in May 2015 before the NICE Guidelines, and when Annie Evans was there. She retired a year or so later (just managed to get another prescription - so still using up the stocks!) and for a while I couldn't see that there was anyone covering menopause at Bristol - but good that someone is now. There are no NHS menopause clinics in the SW at all which is appalling! The one (or more) there was in Cornwall has stopped due to funding.
