Anyone know how long from having a mammogram until the doctor actually checks results :' :o
-
I get a letter about 3 weeks after the mammogram from the unit who performed it x
-
Hi Annie, do you think if anything was wrong they would contact you straight away
-
Yes I do. 2 of my friends were diagnosed with breast cancer and they called them back very soon after the mammogram x
-
I got a letter exactly one week after my mamagram saying everything was Ok.
-
They said I wouldnt hear until early January because of holidays but surely if anything was wrong they would contact you before that
-
I am fairly sure if anything was wrong, they would let you know before that, so I wouldn't worry.
-
Thanks Ellie , anxiety is sky high just now
-
Ayley when did you have your mamagram?
-
Had it done on Monday x
-
There is a 2 week rule within the nhs. Ignore anything is found or suspected you see a specialist within 2 weeks. After mammogram no news is good news x
-
Do you think it will have been looked at already x
-
Probably yes, and don't worry if a letter comes quickly, it isn't always bad news.....mine wasn't.
Did you find a lump or was it routine?
-
For years Ive had a soreness at the side of my right breast , I could have it for maybe 2 to 3 weeks then maybe wouldnt have it for 2 months but I also get tender at the same time on the muscle that runs under the arm and on the breast part that gets sore but it always worried me , my nipple use to feel as if there was things crawling round it as well , Ive had all sorts of sensations on the nipple , I was alwaysvterrified to go for a mammogram incase they found something because ofvthese symptoms but I was making myself ill with worry so bit the bullet and went , now Im more worried x
-
Ayley, those are the same symptoms that I have had for many years. Good that you have gone to have the mamagram, and hopefully you will have a clear result , and then you can stop worrying.
-
Was yours clear Ellie
-
Yes all clear. :)
-
I also had a very sore right boob could not even lie on it and also plucked up the courage to go and it was fine, so do not stress it will be fine. :)
-
Hello Ailey and ellie,
I'm interested to know what your mammogram results are showing because I have the same symptoms. Are you going to ask your gp about the results even if they don't show anything bad?

I have very lumpy breast tissue and also I get mastitis . In the past I have been recalled, and been sent for a scan, the scan showed cysts , that were drained and proved to be benign. I also get a slight creamy discharge from one nipple on occasions.. My breasts (one in particular) often gets very painful. So I am glad to have my regular mammograms for peace of mind .

Usually immediately if there's anything suspicious it maybe different in the UK. We have some wonderful healthworkers in the place I go to that go out of their way to make ladies feel comfortable and at ease. If something is a little off they tell you and contact your doctor who will tell you more.
-
Hi Sparkle, I would have thought they would have got you back quicker than a week when you got the recall , did you not feel as if it should have been quicker
-
Hi Annika , I have also heard that if you dont hear anything in 5 days then its ok .
-
At my last mammo I was told that the result should be back to me within 2 weeks if not, to ring the Dept..
-
