Title: My body is so confused!
Post by: Spangles on December 11, 2017, 06:53:35 PM
Hi,
Not posted for a while, having a little wobble!
During times of PMT thought patterns get a little intrusive sometimes, this sets of the anxiety, then once it's had its bout off it goes again. Annoying and irritating.
Sometimes I get my PMT after my period, this carries on untill my next period, so times I feel I'm going down hill again with anxiety and depression but it does right itself.
However.......now I have a new one..........no sore boobs before period, instead really bad toward the end! I've not had this before, has anyone else?
I really thought I was settling down a bit after 7 years on this roller coaster but obviously not.
Feel really fed up with it all.
Love

Hi Shellb - sorry to hear about this! While you are peri-menopausal even while on HRT your hormones will still be doing their own thing to some extent, until your own cycle weakens as you head towards menopause. Sometimes during peri-menopause you get bleeding without ovulation - known as anovulatory cycles. Several follicles start to develop and produce oestrogen which stimulates the womb lining - but none develop to maturity and ovulation does not take place. If this happens for several cycles then the lining can thicken. As you are taking HRT the progestogen should enable your lining to be shed, but if you do get bleeding without pms symptoms - then it could well be anovulatory. I'm pleased to hear that you recognise the down blips as hormonal and manage to come through them. If it happens that you don't then perhpas you might need to increase your oestrogen dose - I can't remember which dose you are taking?

Hi Hurdity,
Thanks for your reply, I'm assuming it is hormone related as it comes and goes, if I dwell on it it gets worse so I dry distraction.
I've never had onset of breast pain/tenderness halfway through the period though?
Evorel 50
Utrogestan 200
Citalopram 30
Thanks

I didn't get PMT this month, however it kicked in halfway through my period, I still have it a week on. I expect it will last until my next period.
Anyone else get this, it makes me feel low and anxious.

Maybe you need to increase your oestrogen dose if your mood isn't lifting? What sort of pmt symptoms are bothering you - if it is low mood then defo I would suggest an increase. Also some women increase their oestrogen dose when on the progesterone phase of their cycle as it seems to counter the dampening effect of the prog on mood? I do this - but only marginally - I keep running out of patches which gets tricky as they are rationed!
