I'm sorry I keep asking questions ...... my last period was 3 years ago and my menopause symptoms have become horrendous in the last few months. One of my friends has just told me that there is no way that my symptoms are due to menopause because it's so long since my last period. What do you think? Can symptoms get really bad 3 years post meno? Xx

I know I may be different because I had a hysterectomy ove five years ago, but my symptoms have gotten really bad in the past year, not sure if this helps.

Thanks Yammy that does help x

dont Feel bad asking questions Dotty, there's always going to be someone else who wondered about what you're asking and always someone who can answer you
My opinion is maybe your hormones were gradually diminishing and now they're really really low?, hence the symptoms
I had meno symptoms after my hysterectomy when I was 32, oestrogen pills sorted it, but my god have I suffered since I was 45, the only way to explain this is that my natural levels plummeted
You know what you're feeling, no one else does so I wouldn't listen to your friend x

Thanks Annie.
I suffered 5 years ago but didn't know what it was. Then I stabilised for a bit and now it's gone haywire again.
It's just when you feel so ill and people are saying things to you then you begin to doubt yourself.

Hello Dotty.
Allow me to reassure you. My meno symptoms became much worse after I had been period free for three years. I had managed before then without HRT but it was at that point that I went to see my GP. I am sure your friend is well meaning but your situation is certainly not unique, I am living proof of that!
Wishing you well and sending hugs.
K.

Yes, and it was gradual, so it didn't hit me right away. I only "connected the dots" about 4-5 months ago and started HRT. My biggest issue were hot flushes, lack of sleep which lead to anxiety, and odd pains. Now I feel almost normal. I only wish I started hormones earlier....

Thanks jmj Nice to know I'm not the only one x

It's The Change. Different for each lady so your friend either hasn't been through, got to peri or was trying to reassure you without knowing what she's talking about ::).
