Title: New to site
Post by: pattik on October 31, 2017, 07:57:57 PM
Hello, I have just been diagnosed at peri-menopausal. Doctor has given me HRT patches which I still have in my draw waiting to be applied  ;D will start them next week. Going away in a few days for a few days in the sun and this is giving me no joy at all. I'm sure this is usual. I have a fabulous life, a wonderful husband, lovely daughter and a job. So why can't I just look forward to this. My husband said how much he is looking forward to just sitting in the sun and I just gave him a list of symptoms that makes me not looking forward to it. Please tell me I'm not going mad!!!  Glad to have found site by the way   :-*

Yep- feeling flat is one of the many delights related to being peri menopausal/menopausal  :)
Hopefully when you start your HRT things will improve for you.

Hi !

I'm sure the HRT will lift your mood - why the delay in applying the patches straight away?

I started Elleste Duet 1mg almost 2 months ago and I'm amazed at the transformation already, my hot flushes have completely disappeared and the 'fog' has lifted from my brain, I can now think straight !

Good luck on your trip away x

I'd wait til you're back before you start.  There's always a chance you could react to it.  One patch I tried gave me an almighty 4 day migraine.  It'd have been even worse if I was abroad and laying in a dark room trying to vomit.  Try and enjoy your break and start your patches after x

Hi pattik

 :welcomemm:

It depends what patches you have been given. The first patches I was given gave me migraines on the second part of the pack so as Annie0710 says - you don't want this on holiday - although the oestrogen should life your mood. Sometimes though even the initial rapid rise in oestrogen can give a headache so perhaps best to wait - but depends on how bad you are feeling now? Many women actually feel much better when on holiday anyway - just because of the sunshine and relaxation...so when you get there you will  enjoy it :)

Thank you to everyone who answered, I really do appreciate it. Yes delaying as bit nervous how body will react, but hopefully mood will lift with sunshine (and the odd wine I am sure  ;D ) and then start them as soon as I get back.

I am going to keep on this forum as well, so many things I have read have made me feel as though I am not going COMPLETELY mad. Thank you

Go on the holiday.  Once you get there sit out as much as you can. Relax.
