Hello girls,
So, I am now 5 days into hrt to help manage migrants and some pre peri menopause symphtons eg dryness, night sweats and crazy legs. I have started with half sachet of divigel for 7 days in and only started utrogestan last night. So far, the pain in my head and eye has improved.
However, I have noticed an increase in bowel movement and yesterday (sorry if tmi) I noticed some blood in the bowel with the movement itself and have had two bowel movements today, both with a little blood in bowl after.
I read that diarrhoea can be a side effect and wondering have I now got piles. I have no pains in bowel etc... Only a little ovary cramp, but it's day 14 so this happens.
Has anyone experienced this? Or noticed a different colour urine? Does it settle itself? I may ring my Meno specialist on Tuesday and will see if same occurs tomorrow.
Big thanks for any advice, so happy to have relief in pain, will be gutted if this is a show stopper..

Are you sure the bleeding is from the bowel and not from the HRT causing spotting, this is very common but I would not imagine that HRT would cause blood in the stools no.

Hi cassie, only after bowel movement, definitely no spotting otherwise was checking all day..will keep an eye this evening and tomorrow and see if it stops...I do feel a little bloated, praying it settles and stops..thanks for your reply x

Have you checked what the side effects are? it could be a small side effect, never heard of this myself though

Hi Jaycee, yes it's a rarer side effect listed in the box, it says diarrhoea, constipation, rectal disorders and digestive issues.. I'm hoping it settles in a day or two and that perhaps the extra bowel movements have simply created piles.. Thanks for your reply x

Hi you may have some inflammation in the bowel which is causing the blood, could be as the result of upset tummy or something causing the upset.
I only say this because after my mega gallstone attack and couple of days later I had some blood, so the attack must have caused a flare up. I did go to the docs who did the poo test and one of those came back positive, so ended up having to have a colonoscopy which was fine, they did find a pesky internal pile which could have been the source of the blood due to the upset stomach or it just could have been my intestines inflamed due to the attack. Chickens and eggs but do get it checked out if if you are worried! Take care....
