Interesting in the context of recent discussions and possible late pregnancy - and especially that a woman conceived at 47 while on HRT - and I am presuming she must have been on cyclical HRT. Would be interesting to know exactly what type!

Wow that's amazing, I spent yrs upset over the fact I couldn't have anymore kids I bet now I've come to terms with it my swollen tummy is a surprise haha 😂 Xxx

In someways you're probably not totally safe until mid-50's. I hadn't had a period for years due to mini pill, came off that and on to HRT as blood test showed I was an earlyish meno, then low and behold 18 months later had sore boobs, cramps and a period arrived! Of course the medics went into mass panic but that's all it was. Probably the hrt just gave me enough hormones to crank up the system again!
Both my great grans had kids in their late 40's which I bet was fairly common without contraception back then. I know someone who was told it was meno, was 4 months gone, nature's last hurrah!
-
I conceived my two children at 43 and 46 naturally after being told I would never conceive. .....oh might have to ditch the hrt now and go for the pill lol
-
Wow Tinkerbellj - you must have been thrilled! :)

The story appeared in a few publications but none of them listed the type of HRT she was on which I found odd...unless they don't want to scare women on it thinking they will get pregnant!

That's great. It's odd nowadays when celebs say get pregnant at those ages everyone says it must be IVF or a surrogate. It's as if people assume once you reach 40 you're infertile. I have a few friends who had babies in their early 40's.
-
I know at least 2 who had babies at 46.
The oldest was Dawn Brooke at 59.
-
She apparently had a very early 'menopause' if that was fact. I wonder what advice she had been given over-all and from whom?
My aunt had a baby at aged 43. I was told that 1 had to be 2 years from the last regular period B4 considering stopping contraception.
-
Yes maybe her early menopause wasn't actually proper early menopause and the ovaries began functioning again as can happen and would have happened with or without HRT.

My gran had my mum at the age of 45 naturally of course, she was classed as a surprise 11 years after the last one.
-
There are many reasons why this may have happened that the Press haven't told us ::). However, they appear happy with their surprise bundle ;)

Over the moon with my babies....just sad that I have to struggle with meno when I should be active and able....wish they got to know the real me instead if this sad shell

However: that sorry is yours. They know you: as you 'are' now ;-). Children don't expect much: love, attention, warmth, food the occasional treat ......... not having energy might mean that parents read more, do puzzles etc. ;-)
-
Exactly, my friends have always said she has only known me like this, a lot of time I had to just go to bed but one good thing she knows how to entertain herself as I read boredom is one of the most important things for childr n as these days always have after school clubs ect and never no what to do when not being entertained. Xx
-
Children are only as bored as their parents allow them to be ;). If I ever mentioned the 'b' word I was sent to dust my bedroom ;D
Think back: kids have access to c computers etc. but in My Day ::) we had to read, make our own fun with dolls, train sets, a sheet over the table on wet days to make-believe underneath. She will be OK! Kids don't use their imaginations enough these days. On wet days Mum used to cover the table with newspaper and allow us to paint: anyone remember magic painting books? or do pastry or use plasticine.
Sometimes it is enough that we be still. Reading, sitting, watching the wildlife from the window ;-)

tinkerbellj and Butterfly - please don't beat yourselves up! Don't look back with regret but forward with hope and optimism about the future for you and them. We all do the best we can as parents, and our children love us for who we are and because we love them - and that's what you are doing :)

Exactly, a lot of kids now don't get bored so never have the chance to use there imagination. Mind I remember one day poorly had to lie down and my daughter was watching a dvd, well it must have finished so she put another one in! IT was a horror/thriller room 1408, poor thing came and woke me up as she was so frightened 😬
And thanks Hurdity, I'm always being told what a credit she is to me and she is always happy and singing away so that makes me smile. Xxxx

Ooh magic painting that's a blast from the past !😁
I had a vivid imagination as a kid I count myself lucky in not having internet,DVD,etc growing up. ::)
-
A few of my friends and I have commented that we had our children in our 30's, so now our meno is coinciding with their puberty, so it's hormones flowing all around which is difficult!
I think we all doubt ourselves sometimes as parents but as long as our kids seem happy then we shouldn't worry.
-
I think that has been true for years Snoooze .........
That's why the men in my family didn't sit in the lounge for very long ::)
-
Thank u ladies. I suppose mothers always doubt themselves. My daughter has just come to me out of the blue and said I love u mummy u give the best snuggles....out if the mouth of babes. I shed a sneaky tear! X
-
Ah that's lovely, that tells you just what you need to no xxx

aaaaahhhhh ............ see, she's not expecting too much. Unless she's seen a comic she would like you to buy and it's cupboard love ;-)
