Which do ladies find the best? I find utrogestan can make my hair lank
-
I've pretty much only ever used progesterone so can't comment from my own experience but a good rule of thumb is the information on the menus which group the progestogens according to whether they are closely related to testosterone or not. The closer they are to T the more likely there could be androgenic effects of which hair loss is one. Provera is in between those like norethisterone ( more T related) and Utrogestan ( least T related). I should think dosage must also play a part.

I thought that too Hurdity, but I read a post that I cannot find where a lady said an endocrinologist had actually said that provera would work out to be Less androgenic as progesterone was androgenic in some situations. Not sure why.
Also ladies are saying t is helping hair and studies show it does and doesn't make it any worse. Would t work on the receptors differently than androgenic progesterones?
I am day one on provera and find I'm not as groggy, my hair has a lot more body and only a few strands more loss so far. I imagine I have both provera and Utrogestan in my system at the moment. I'll give it a few days and will know better. I still don't think I've found the perfect combination.

Katia,
Can't advise on this but it does interest me!
I know that you have recently added T so how do you know what is Provera and what is T?

Carrie, I had to stop t after a couple of days. I started bleeding, got bad diarrhoea and sore gums. I'm not sure if the bleeding is connected to the t, but possibly as it it stimulates the ovaries. The t dis give my hair more body and my skin felt better. These went back a few days after stopping the t. I'm going to give it another go in a while and see. I used only half a lentil size p, mush less than most people, so surprised I had problems.
I'm on day 2 of provera. My hair is softer and shinier and not as flat as Utrogestan. It's probably oilier. I'm wondering if provera, being slightly androgenic, will have the benefits t had without the side effects. My hair was better from day 1 so it's possible that I have both u and provera in my system and its the increase in p that's making it better. Some is still coming out, but it's not excessive and no more than with u. I'll have to see as I'm still groggy and my mood is flat, which I think may be Premarin.
