Hi All,
I'm really struggling today and yesterday. Im on qlaira birth control a month and a half now and I really dont feel any better than I did before going on it and judging by today I think I might be getting worse. I wole up with severe back pain and low mood-ive been so tearful all day. I had to take 3 different typesof pain killers for my lowerback pain as I was in pure agony!! Its only subsided in last hour. Im just so emotional. Im exhausted from this all. I just dont understand what to do next. I dont know whether to keep going with this pill or try something else.
I dont know where I am at with all this. Last hormone test in february showed low progesterone but a few months ago I developed all the symptoms oflow estrogen-vaginal dryness, dry nosw, dry throat, itchy skin, hot sweats, cold sweats, tiredness, dizziness........
I just want mylife back. I dont what to do for the best.my doctors are useless. They think im too young for this. Im so worn out by all this.

This menopause stuff sucks! I would change docs if you are not getting anywhere Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow x
-
How old are you? It is NEVER too young for menopause to begin. Some girls have 1 or 2 periods then go into very early menopause. Maybe have a read of the Daisy web-site, I think it's mentioned here - ask questions ?

Can't read and run.

Hope tomorrow is a better day.

Hi all, thanks for messages. I didnt take my pill last night and feel a bit better this morning. Back pain isn't as bad but little neck pain now. I thinm that particular pill didnt suit. I'm unsure whar to do now. I'll go back to gp for suggestions. Had terrible cramps during the night and this morning.
Thanks for the support.it means a lot to me. :)

Did you have a look-see at the Daisy web-site? Let us know what your GP suggests.

Hello, I was in awe while I as reading your posts. I am exactly in the same unbearable condition since last May. I am only 31 years old and nobody believes how much I am suffering. I have seen all kind of doctors and no help. They keep saying that I am too young and it is stress. Ι am going to cite a list of my physical and emotional symptoms which are the same as yours
extreme fatigue, loss of energy, unbearable pain like flu on my legs, constant fatigue and cramps
intense bone pain especially when the weather is humid, joints make cracking sounds ( knees, ankles ...), joint stiffness
reflux ( I ran all the approriate tests and I was officially diagnosed with weakly acid reflux and bile reflux- bile gastritis so not acidic reflux in my case)
allergies in spring and fall
IBS ( soft bowel movements, gas, bloating)
episodes of hypoglucemia especially after eating
ovulation pain and crying on the day of ovulation, very emotional over nothing
PMDD
itching especially the last day of my period ( I have 2 days normal flow and on day 3 and 4 only spotting)
hot flashes all over my body along with chills
sensitivity to light and sound
panic attacks/irritability/anxiety, mood swings, outbursts and after crying and apologizing, abnormal behavior
insomnia, vivid dreams, no deep sleep
The last week, my endocrinologist told me that I may have intestenial cystitis according to the results of my urinalysis. Pyosferia and hemoglobin was found but no microbe been detected on my urine test, consqently it is due to my hormones fluctuation.
She suggested that I should start a multivitamin and if no improvement then an antidepressant but I am no optimistic at all about the effectiveness of both. I know that the root cause is a weird for my young age hormonal imbalance, unfortunately very early perimenopause and I have read that it can last up to ten years. :'(
I am searching everywhere for a miracle cure. Sth to help me to live like normal person again
I have no quality of life, I cannot go for work, I am not feel normal, I am tired of feeing sick all the time, this is not life. It is a nightmare. I am too young for this. I am also more than desperate.
Have you ever been tested for your female hormones? Have you seen any improvement with the pill?
My thyroid hormones always between the normal ranges, I only found by coincidence that I have a thyroid nodule ( beging for the moment). Actually, I was constantly complaining that I feel a lump sensation on my throat and the doctor ordered a thyroid ultrasound. Probably this is a symptom of my reflux which comes and goes.
p.s sorry for any language mistakes but english is not my mother tongue

There is a thread here someone about bladder issues which required long-term anti-biotic therapy :-\

Hi Maria,
I am sure you want an answer to your problems but as an anxiety sufferer and having health anxiety long before peri menopause, your symptoms do sound like anxiety. The brain is very powerful. It can make you experience pain and symptoms when you don't have a health issue. Lump in the throat is a classic anxiety symptom.
Some of your symptoms could also be related to fibromyalgia or ME.

Why not try the anti depressants to see if they make any difference?

hello thank u for your answer...Unfortunately it is not that simple...I forgot to mention that my symptoms deteriotated since last May when I had an ovarian cyst surgery. I had a luteal rupture cyst all of a sudden...
The truth is that I have started to notice some of my symptoms since 2012...
Another less important symptom is that many skin moles are growing all over my body ( brown moles or sth like red spot- cherry angiomas) and wild hair like thorns on my inner thighs.
It is not psychological...I wish it were...
I firmly believe that sth hormonal rare for my age is happening on my body.... :'( :'( :'(

Hi Maria, I am sorry I didnt respond sooner. I have had all the symptoms you mentioned even down to a cyst above my thyroid. I must say that all my symptoms started over 2 years ago when I stopped taking birth control. I never knew perimenopause existes but I believe I have started it. I say this too because I have a sister who has had some symptoms such as flooding periods, tingling face, sore lower back and hip pain and she is just over 1 and a half years oldee than me. A few friends and colleagues of mine who arwin and around my age and a little older have also mentioned lump in throat, acid reflux, and lowerback pains. Maybe I am just taking too much notice due to my own symptoms but its veey worrying these symptoms. I know mine all started at critical stages in my cycle. Even now I get most of my pain during ovulation and my period. I have extreme pelvic pressure too mid cycle. It really is a struggle to get up every day.
Most recently I was told that I have chronic fatigue syndrome- my sister laughed and said she had that herself!!!
I wish I had answers for you and for myself. I stopped taking that birth control but I think I will try another one when my next period comes. I also get the extdeme breast pain from ovulation onwards.
It truly is a very difficult time. I hope youfind answers soon. Xxx

I started at 25 with no explanation so it's possible. I also have ME (CFS) and a lot of the symptoms are similar plus depression.
Can you ask for a FSH hormone level test as this is what I had and you can see where your at it all xxx

Oops, more meno brain as just realised you signed off your first post as Maria!
Which country are you in? Do you have meno specialists like we have in the UK? Would you be able to go and see one to try and get a definite diagnosis of menopause?
-
Hi maraki
:welcomemm:
Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Sounds like you're having as rough time.
In your position I would press for a complete endocrine testing and full blood count as these symptoms are not usual in someone so young.
What are your period cycles doing - are they regular or irregular? Do you skip them sometimes?
Are you in UK?
What were your actual thyroid function readings compared to the lab ref range?
It does sound like extreme pms but all mixed up - can you keep a diary so that you can note how any of these symptoms relate to your cycle?
Don't worry about the language - your post is very easy to follow and you sound fluent to me! I would resist taking an anti-depressant because you need to get to the bottom of what is causing these symptoms. If you are peri-menopausal and in UK there are certain recommendations re testing for this so it is important to follow this up. You are deemed peri-menopausal if your cycle is very irregular but if you are getting these symptoms it may be possilbe for blood tests to be carried out anyway. They would be testing for FSH but needs to be done on two occasions 4-6 weeks apart at your young age.
I started typing this a couple of hours ago and I see you have responded re your ovaries. If you have irregular periods there is a condition known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which causes irregular periods, cysts on the ovaries and high levels of androgens which can cause symptoms like hairiness.
There is some information here:
http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/polycystic-ovarian-syndrome/Pages/Introduction.aspx
Has your doc considered this possibility?
Do pursue some of these and do not be fobbed off with things like "there there take a vitamin" (or an AD), "there can't be anything wrong at your age"!
Do let us know what happens and what you decide to follow up.

As others have mentioned, when reading your list of symptoms, my first thought was ME (chronic fatigue syndrome). I've noticed since jumping on this awful peri journey, that a lot of the symptoms I've experienced before with my ME illness x

Hello again and thank u a lot for your immediate answers. I signed my post with my real name Maria and maraki is the nickname of Maria in my country, its the same so no problem..
I live in Greece but unfortunately I could not find a forum with a lot of information to share my experience and exchange any advice or help.
I have visited so many doctors and so many tests since last May that I have not visited all my life. So many tests and no help. I feel desperate because I am so young to have so many problems.
My thyroid hormones are within the normal range. I had also checked my female hormones twice and the results were the following
FSH 10,54 LH 11,7 Estradiol 55 last November
FSH 9,99 LH 10,45 Estradiol 48,42 last April
My gyneocologist told me that they are ok. I do know if he told me the truth but he was negative to prescribe me hormone pill. He said that he did not want to touch my hormones...
In the past, many years ago around 2009 I have been told that I have PCOS syndrome ( mild case) without cysts on my ovaries, only high prolactin level and androstendione.
I always had regular periods and now I have my menses every 28 days although I have noticed that I have some brown discharges 2 days earlier every month.....As I said earlier, my period lasts 4 days with normal flow for 2 days and then only spotting. It is weird...
My problem is very inexplicable and it is not neurological or psychological I think.
To cut the long story short, during my period I feel better, some kind of relief and around 5 or 6 day of my cycle until my ovulation the nightmare starts. After my ovulation a feel a little better for a week and then PMS starts and I feel awful again. Basically, I feel almost fine one week out of 4 every month.
I am writing down my symptoms every day and I report them to every doctor but they are looking me like I am "crazy" but I am not and I know it. The pain and my symptoms are real.
My endocrinologist suggested multivitamins and we will see ....
-
Hi again maraki
OK so you have been told you have a mild case of PCOS then? I would have a look at the link I gave in my earlier post and specifically what it says about treatments and take it from there. If you are overweight then losing weight may help. The (combined) contraceptive pill is also sometimes suggested to regulate the cycle and stabilise your hormones - and especially if you are suffering from extreme PMS.
It does sound as though you need to have more specialist advice though :-\
Sorry I can't be of more help, and I hope you do find the help and treatment you need.
