Hi I'm confused. I have a mirena coil (second one) and have been on evorel 25 for about a month. My peri symptoms are spots flushes night sweats and really bad anxiety. But Anxiety is not a new thing for me. I know the evorel 25 is a low dose and Seems to be doing nothing so I will ask to go up a dose. However if I ever stop taking these things won't the symptoms just come back. How does it work? Thanks. Ps I have also been on citalopram for 8 years I am 48 and have been suffering the flushes and sweats and spots for six months.

You can't delay menopause. Hrt replaces the oestrogen etc which reduces/stops the symptoms. When you're out of eggs, you're out of eggs
Personally, I use hrt as quality of life is important to me with my symptoms. Some women say symptoms reduce as the years go by post menopause, others suffer just as bad as before. I'm @ 3 years post and I know my night sweats etc would still be severe without hrt as when I've switched hrt this year they were horrible still x

So potentially when you've no more eggs you won't produce the hormones and so potentially you might need HRT for quite a while?

I think everyone is different. Hormone levels reduce the more into menopause we go. Some ladies do well on no hrt, it's a personal thing . I was 32 when my ovaries were failing and found the symptoms uncomfortable so gp put me on hrt and 19 years later I'm still using it and have no intention to stop. It hasn't stopped menopause, it's just stopped many symptoms and replaced hormone levels which can help heart and bones

Whereas I went through Peri and haven't required HRT other than for vaginal atrophy. It's about Quality of Life and if HRT eases symptoms that are bothersome ........... one can get on with daily chores, leisure time etc..
