Hi everyone,
This is my first time on the forum but I needed to see if anyone has experienced reactions from the 2mg Elleste Duet , I had been fine on the 1 mg for 5 months, I had loads of energy and felt great and then started to get hot flushes back and feeling totally exhausted.
I went to the GP and I agreed with her that I should go onto the 2mg tablet as they seemed to suit me.
Well I have felt pretty rough, I can only describe it as feeling out of breath and jittery, I feel like I want to explode and keep having to take a deep breath,i have been getting headaches and feel pretty low, I also take 45 mg of mirtazapine, any advice would be appreciated.

Hi :welcomemm:
Maybe 2mgs is too high for you :-\ too much oestrogen can cause That jittery feeling you mentioned.
That said if you can give it a week or two you might well adjust to it. Hope it settles for you soon.

Contact your GP (maybe by phone rather than wait). I had all sorts of weird stuff with Elleste Duet 2mg...headaches...brain fog...bad sleep. Doc told me to come off it asap as some people react badly to it (see all the side effects in the leaflet!) Wish I had known before as I would have come off it earlier but was trying to soldier on.

Thanks for your replies, Is there an alternative tablet to this that is not quite so strong but stronger than 1mg of Elleste Duet as this was not enough ??

Estradiol valerate might be slightly weaker I understand - this comes in Climagest and has the same progestogen in Elleste.
Is it the first half of the pack of the 2 mg that is bothering you? You body should acclimatise to the increased oestrogen as dazned suggests, otherwise Femoston 2/10 might be better ( although it's the same oestrogen dose).
Other than that patches (or gel) with separate progesterone may be the way to go as tablets have to go through the digestive system and liver before reaching the bloodstream and tissues in the body.

Hi there, I changed from 1mg to 2mg Elleste Duet last autumn, I have to say it did take a while to settle - I did contact the menopause specialist and she said to give it the full three months which I did and then it settled - and I felt fine - it was tricky during the interim period though - good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Thanks this is really useful, yes it is the first part of the pack that I am having problems with.
