Hi I tried Femoston 1/10 a couple of years ago as I had missed a couple of periods and had hot sweats and anxious all the time and as I suffer from severe anxiety and depression and was told I was perimenopause I gave them a try but three weeks in and my anxiety was really bad so I stopped and just took Red Clover for sweats which is good.......anyway the past year has been awful and I had blood test for hormones which showed I was well into Menopause although Perimenopause as last period was March this year....... I can't go on like this my anxiety is through the roof I can't sleep I am on my knees......so I am going to phone my Dr on Monday and tell her I want to try hrt again my question is should I ask for Femoston or Elleste Duet and which causes less anxiety on the progesterone part..........Thankyou........WWxxxxxx

Generally people will say femoston has the kinder prog. Elleste has northisterone as the progesterone part and more people seem to struggle with it. However I was fine on it for 4/5 years.

Thankyou for getting back to me could you tell me if the progesterone part of Elleste Duet caused anxiety at all.......?.......Wxxxxx

I have just come off Ellestre Duet as it caused me terrible anxiety & heavy periods like I had never had before after taking it for around 6 weeks. My doctor told me to give it 3 months and then check in with her. After 10 weeks I felt so awful / not myself that i put a call in to another doctor who told me to come off it straight away. Only 2 days off but I don't have that terrible down feeling. Time will tell I guess. I still take 40mg proprananol at night for anxiety. It's intersting...all the speel on the Ellestre packaging says that it is for Hot Flushes . No mention of anxiety. The side effects do mention a load of anxiety related things which mirrored my own experience. ( But then don't all medicines...!).

It didn't cause me any problems. As with all Hrt we all react differently,it's very much trial and error and what works for one won't necessarily work for another .

Hi Wendy worrier - you asked the same question on the All Things Menopause section and I've just answered it on there - didn't see this one - often forget to look at this section!
