Hello everyone,
I have been on Femoston 1/10 for about 7 months now. Yes it has mostly stopped the flushes (though the odd one sneaks in). My nurse (specialises in hrt) said to try it for at least 6 months - well that time is up and apart from the flushes stopping and I feel more 'switched on", I dont really feel it has benefitted in many other ways.
I now have more headaches and a really foul one just before my period - could be a migraine as I feel really sick too. I WAS having very irregular periods
(I had gone without for 9 months at one stage, a 6 month break and a couple of 4 month gaps too - now its every month without fail and can be quite heavy - double pads at night and have flooded occasionally - yuk!
I am off to Florida at the end of August and am due my period in the last couple of days - this means (if my diary is correct) the migraine will happen half way through my holiday and when it is my wedding anniversary - which we are there to celebrate with family.
Dont know what to do? My prescription is due to be renewed. Should I carry on? Is there any other hrt that I could ask for that doesnt give periods?
Feel like I am going backwards not moving on...
any advice please x

Hi Florida mad- only continuous HRT will stop a bleed but I'm not sure that your doc would prescribe this as you are still peri.
I understand that a short dose of norethisterone can stop a period if taken a few days before it's due but I'm not sure how this would square up with taking HRT- probably something you need to discuss with the doc/ practice nurse.
Have a good holiday when it comes x

Thank you. Have had noristherone before and it worked, though was terribly bloated.
Not sure either if it will work with hrt

Yes it should . It's when you stop the progesterone that the bleed occurs. The other way the could try is keep taking the oestrogen only tablets but if you are experiencing heavy bleeds this would possibly make the linning thicker . If it were me l d take the northisterone. Maybe look at another delivery route for your hrt going forward to try to eliminate your headaches. Have a great holiday !
