I've lived here for nearly 4 years and I'd really like to meet some new like minded female friends.
Not one for Facebook and I've just put Twitter on hold for a while. I'm fairly independent but it's always nice to know people fairly local to meet for a coffee etc.
Just a thought, even though I know we're all different, it's always great to meet new people. I have a background in media/TV but am passionate about holistic health and psychology/therapy. Trained as a counsellor. Well travelled, big foodie and love yoga/walking/cycling fan. Also love reading, writing, music, dancing.
Daylesford Organics is great and is fairly local to me too.
I know this site isn't Meetup, but as I'm on here quite a lot, I thought there must be women from all over the place who come on here too.
Just a thought. :)

It's been suggested but not taken off sadly. Maybe you could post the idea in your Library/GP Surgery/Church to see if anyone would like to meet up?
-
God no, you'd get all kinds of weirdos.
Just thought I'd post on here as there is common ground and it's always nice to add new friends.
-
Oh thanks ;D - takes one weirdo to recognise another ;)
This Forum is in general, anonymous. Allows ladies to get things off their chests that they couldn't say to anyone else ;-)
-
Haha....I'm not a weirdo.
I appreciate we are all different which is great.
I used to work in media and TV and so by nature, I'm not reserved, but as there is always a mix if types of personality, those who wish to remain private are absolutely entitled to, but there may be others who are happy to socialise.
I'm easy going so...it was only a passing comment.

Do you have neighbours with a dog? Maybe ask if you can go on walks, that you would like to learn more about the area? That way interests can be built up until you trust someone with more personal issues?
-
I think you've misunderstood me.
-
Sorry about that ........ your point was? Meeting up with people from the Forum then?
-
Yes someone did try to get this going in Scotland but it didn't come to anything although may yet....
I actually think it's a great idea - and not because one feels in need of friends (as CLKD says there are many ways of meeting people generally) - but as you say we're all menopausal women and good to have a real life chin-wag and a few hugs too with women going through the same without having to worry about what they might think if you say you're menopausal!!
I would say that anyone else who lives in the Cotswolds or near-abouts who wants to meet up should contact you by pm so that it can be done discreetly as women generally want to be anonymous while posting on here.
The obvious cautionary things about meeting people you don't know ( Red carnation? Public place?) - I'm sure we all know what to do and what not to do at our age!
Good luck - if I lived nearer I'd be up for it - although I've never done yoga - can't keep still for long enough ::)

DaisyB. Hi.
Yep. Same here. Totally independent. Strong. Travelled extensively solo at times.
And, it's no 'biggie'....was just a thought.
Everything seems to be complex nowadays in the UK.
but, as I've said before, we are all different.
DaisyB where is NI? My brain is full of wine right now. X
-
Haha.... of course it's Northern Ireland. I knew that.
Duh!
It's the kind of wine that causes brain cells to disintegrate.
-
Read these posts in the middle of a sleepless night and now feel proud that my brain still works and had worked out that NI meant Northern Ireland. Now if you had written with an Irish accent, then Pollyanna wouldn't have been confused...........cheers!

what part of the Cotswolds Pollyanna? Just out of interest. We don't live there but have strong familial connections there and had 2 family wedding there in recent years :)
-
I live near cirencester at present, but I get around a bit... ☺️

My sister lived in the Cotswolds when she was alive, now no doubt haunts her favourite places! So I used to visit a lot . Not too far for me.
