Hi Ladies,
I have recently been to see Nick Panay who has put me on 2mg of Estradiol gel, 0.5mg of Testogel and 100mg Utrogestan daily. I'm 50 and have been on this treatment for 2 weeks only.
Never having suffered from spots, even as a teenager, my chin has suddenly broken out in lots of spots! Has anyone else had this experience and which hormone is it caused by? Does it mean I'm taking too much of something or is it just my body adjusting to the extra hormones in my body?
I'd love to hear from someone who has had this problem.
Thank you
Jox

Yes and you may notice your hair gets greasy quick

Hi Annie & Shortie,
Thanks for your replies. Mmmm, yes you're right, it must be the T. I'm still waiting for my blood results to come back so I have absolutely no idea what my levels are. I'm hoping to hear from the clinic soon and they may make adjustments to my dosage. Hopefully it will settle soon! I don't want greasy hair in the mix too ;) x

Before T (and after menopause) i could go a week between hair washing, with T it's 2 days max
-
Blimey - I have to wash mine every other day as it is!! I hope it wont need doing twice a day ;) .

I use dry shampoo if I really can't be bothered to wash/dry it, that can give me another day or so

Hi there
Just wanted to say that I started getting spots on my face after starting systemic estrogen around 5 weeks ago, so it might not (only) be the testosterone. The spots seemed to be worse in the first few weeks and have now got better - although not gone completely. Mind you, I've always had a naturally rather oily skin.
I second the recommendation for dry shampoo - wonderful stuff. Also, if you have straight hair which tends to look limp, as I do, it's great for adding 'body'!

Great advice ladies re: dry shampoo! Thank you. Yes Eviepf I think it could be a combo of T and E bring out the spots, I'm keeping an eye on how many appear, so far it's just my chin so I hope it calms down as my body get used to the hormones. Jo x

Just had something pop up on a Facebook page I follow with great reviews about witch hazel for spots/pores. Dab on with cotton wool after removing makeup

Thanks Annie - good old witch hazel - I'll invest in some ;D x

When I first stated the same regime as you I got a few spots for a few weeks but then they cleared up and my skin has been great since.

I got them too with the gel and Utrogestan. I put them down to the Utrogestan. I upped the estrogen from two to three pumps and the spots cleared up too.
