Title: Elleste solo v Sandrena dosage?
Post by: Amanda64 on June 13, 2017, 12:13:55 PM
Hi, just a quick question here...... My Dr has just changed me from Elleste solo 40 patches, to Sandrena gel 1.0mg, as i was getting skin irritation issues (other than that they were working brilliantly) Is this roughly an equal dose i'll be getting, the Dr was a bit vague. I'm to use one sachet each morning.
Thanks

It's difficult to be exact about this because women are so variable in how much they absorb from the different methods and the figures given ( for equivalence) are just an average.  The rule of thumb is generally to transfer to the approx dose of another type in terms of low medium or high and then judge by symptoms, as precision is impossible. Two pumps Oestrogel is usually the standard medium dose as is a 50 mcg patch. 1 mg Sandrena is 2/3 of the two pumps oestrogel (1.5 mg oestrogen), and 40 mcg is 4/5 the 50 mcg patch so they are in the same ballpark. However as I said some women may absorb gel better, others patches. The best thing is to try the gel for a few weeks and see how you feel.

Incidentally some of the patches have different fillers and come in different sizes - so Estradot are very small patches, so cover less skin to irritate. If you find you don't get on well with the gel then perhaps try these?

Let us know how you get on :)

Thanks for replying, i've only just seen this - still working my way around the boards here -  So far (a couple of weeks) i'm not sure it's working as well as the patch. I felt a real high a few hours after applying it, i was almost euphoric, then dropped like a stone after around 12 hours! After a couple of days of this i started splitting the dose, morning and evening and i feel far more "level" doing it this way. Will see how it goes.
On a separate note, i am sooooo glad i found this forum and discovered you can take the Utrogestan vaginally - after two miserable cycles feeling like zombie and only being able to stand 10 days taking it orally, i decided this month to take it the French way and i am so glad i did!!! :)  it has taken away 80% of the side effects!!
Thanks Hurdity x
