Title: Just need somewhere to share this...
Post by: Rosanna on June 05, 2017, 09:48:31 PM
Maybe it's too much info, but curious on other's experiences.  I've never had this before, as in, before the new year....but things are a changing, lol

So.....yesterday the period pains started and because I believe in natural health and being mindful of my own bodily processes I decided to lay on the bed for 2 hours (yes I was lucky to have the time yesterday) and just go with the wave upon wave of pain.  It wasn't terrible, it was just period pain.  It lasted 6 hours in total though and I'm not used to that.

Today I've hardly eaten.  I have this mild background nausea.  I'm also completely exhausted.  I'm also bleeding a lot heavier than I did ever before the new year....before all these changes.

None of it is too horrible or unbearable, or I would take something, it's just interesting....it's never happened to me before.  I know girls at work who had to be sent home after being sick and being unable to eat and having terrible period pain.  I never got that, but now I'm getting a glimpse of what they were feeling.

Ah well.  Long commute tomorrow.  14 hour day.  I'd better go to bed early.....just weird that I've hardly eaten, lol

LOL, according to google it's all the prostaglandins, and they have some health benefits too so I'll put up with it.

I always used to get terrible period pain along with vomiting and diarrhoea and couldn't eat anything for the first 24 hours or so of my period.  Only positive was that it was great for staying slim!  Have a constant battle with my weight now, but I wouldn't want to go back to the constant pain instead!

I used to have terrible pains and feel really yucky but got scant sympathy from some other women who just said " get on with it" Turns out that they always had such light bleeds and hardly noticed their periods. Sometimes, I wish our sisters were more understanding. We're all different. Late peri I was having really prolonged heavy and painful bleeds but they settled down.

Interesting point- you don't have naturally red hair though? I'm a strawberry blonde and always had heavy bleeds. When I had my son , the maternity nurses were speaking about me and I heard them say " she'll be a bleeder" After a long hard labour and a forceps delivery I had my much loved son in my arms and started to feel a bit strange. Don't remember the rest but have a vague recollection of them trying to waken me. Hubby said it was horrific- the blood started pouring out of me, on the floor, up the walls, baby got thrown on a trolley and wheeled out the room with my husband, they pressed an emergency button and doctors were running down the corridor. I had started to haemorrhage and lost an awful lot of blood. Turns out that research has shown that people with red hair carry a certain gene that makes them bleed more. Funny enough, years beforehand my aunt who was also a nurse told me that and also that pain appears to be felt more acutely by redheads! X

Yeah Sparkle- I forgot about that one too. I had an epidural and it only worked on one side! Strange stuff indeed

While not a red head, I'm the only one of 6 cousins on my Dad's side of the family who is not, I did bleed profusely after the birth of my sons. Interesting as I had never heard of a link with hair colour.

How interesting: Himself is a bleeder and there is red hair on his Mother's side of the family  :o.  However,  I am not and there's no red hair on either side but I had DREADFUL period pains with clotting, nausea; I dreaded each month  :'( it went on for years and years and ...... from age 13 to 16 when I went on the Pill.

I would be too afraid to wait to see if the pain subsided naturally as I get very nauseated and then can't eat  :-\

Does auburn running through very dark hair count? Lol

My periods were the pits, school secretary had a monthly job of driving me home sitting on a black sack

And I haemorrhaged after a birth and ended up in theatre

I believe that it's something to do with a particular gene that redheads carry so I would guess if you've got this gene ( regardless of hair colour) then you may be susceptible
