I am moving from Premique low dose to Everol Conti patches. I have good control of my symptoms for the most part on Premique ld and was wondering if I should start on half a patch or whole of the Everol Conti - I asked my gp but she said they work differently so wasn't sure. Has anyone done anything similar or can offer advice - thank you.

I'm on half a patch and get good symptom control.
I was on a full patch for a few years but decided to try managing on less. I have to say I've noticed no difference and as I'm nearly 57 and have been on HRT since 49 I'm happy to be on the lowest dose possible. My GP suggested making the half patch last a whole week. That didn't work as I didn't sleep very well and my night sweats started to return.
All you can do is try and if it doesn't work then you can increase. The good thing with these patches is they are large so cutting a bit off is really easy.

Hi Emiflo
I use those patches and yes all fine to cut them in half. I always cut a piece of the patch, I have been doing that since I started using them 2 years ago. Some weeks just use half a patch twice a week and all fine.
Good luck

Hi again Emiflo - I answered on your other thread before I saw this one!
Re the Evorel - I would suggest you try the full dose - from what I remember you are quite young and maybe post-menopausal - so the 50 mcg is the minimum for protection against osteoporosis. It would be best to have this dose at least until the average age of menopause and ideally beyond - the longer you take it the more bone protection you will get. Some women find they get side effects from the progestogen - but you may not. If this is the case you can try a different patch ( Femseven) or go for separate oestrogen and progestogen, or go back to a cycle so that you only take progestogens for part of the month.
Hopefully you will feel good on this one :)

Haha yes I just replied to you on the other post Hurdity - sorry for creating confusion! Thanks for the advice. Yes I am just 49 had no periods for over 2 years now....ok will go with the full patch and hopefully it agrees with me.
Have a good day x

I always prefer to start off small and then build up.
When I started on a full patch it made me feel wired and jittery.
You can always build up from your half patch. Have you compared the strengths of the two preparations.

Yes this has been discussed on another thread - there are several on the go!

Emiflo is young and already on HRT - going from low dose tablet to medium patch and is post-menopausal so should be on the higher dose - increasing should not be as noticeable (ie re side effects) as if starting straight away. The main issue could be with the progestogen in Evorel conti so this would be a good reason to start with half a patch. I agree that if post-meno and starting from scratch as slow build up may be advisable to minimise ( temporary) oestrogen side effects.
I was late peri when I started ( Evorel sequi) 10 years ago and had 50 mcg from the start and it always suited me :)
