I am post menopausal and have been without HRT for 6/7 years. Problems locating my cervix so using pesseries before next smear attempt...3rd attempt. Discussed what benefits there may be to HRT , 14 days on klinovane . No major side effects. But....my nipples are erect and burning ...also untouchable
Even a seat belt makes me squeal. Also moderate chronic ache very low stomach pelvic area and lower back. Acute and screamable if banged. Bloating and slightly swollen ankles.
Question .. given only 2 weeks...do I put up with this as it does settle, or is it likely to remain?. I had problems with fibroids peri menopausal. Also very similar pain.
Considered HRT for joint discomfort and flushes....but reckon they are easier to manage than this return to peri menopausal symptoms. :'(

I agree - or speak to your Practice Nurse or local Pharmacist next week. I am sure that some ladies have found that certain HRT preparations can cause nipple awareness!

I had this with a progestogen only pill I was put on :o even though I was used to being on the pill. It is supposed to go away. I gave it 12 weeks, which should have been more than enough. It is not nice at all. :-\
If you feel you have given it a fair wack, and it is not going, ask to try something else. If you look under 'treatments' above, there is a same dose one with a different progestogen you can try, or an ultra low dose one.

Thank you ladies.
I spoke to my GP who asked me to persevere another 2 weeks. However between abdo cramps and nipples keeping me awake , I have decided to come off this now, rather than prolong something that is intensifiying by the pill.
Thanks again. At my next review I may consider alternative or a lower dose...
I used serenity cream for a couple of years...may just go back to that ;D

Browse round. Make notes! Decide which symptoms you would like to ease?

Hi Kacee
Sorry to hear you've had this experience on HRT and it definitely should not make you feel like this. How old are you and are you 6/7 years post-meno or longer? If you have been without oestrogen for this length of time anyway, then it is obviously a shock to the system. That being the case why not try a patch HRT, and cut it in half for the first few weeks - and see how you get on - Femseven is usually the better tolerated (than Evorel - due to the progestogen), although it has to be left on for a week and some women have problems with it sticking.
The prog cream won't do anything for joint pain and flushes!
Hope you manage to get sorted :)
