Nothing like having it all in one day! I had two mri scans last week ( abdominal and thoracic) abdominal to check my pancreas etc and the thoracic to moniter a neurofibroma on my spine. My Dr got the results today so I have appt tomorrow afternoon but in the morning I have a gastroscopy with sedation :o
The worst test of all is the gastroscopy, I have had 3 in the past as I have a hiatus hernia and have had sedation with them all but just having my blood pressure taken freaks me!
All fine vibes would be appreciated for tomorrow please.

Goodness me countrybumpkin, you're really going through it at the moment!
I've no experience of the gastroscopy but you're going to be just fine I'm sure.
Positive vibes coming your way xxx :)

I've had that done and after you get your relaxing happy injection you will be just fine.
You will get your cuppa and toast or a biscuit afterwards and get to sleep off your mild sedation. It really is a happy injection. I came home floating on cloud 9 .
I will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
It will be over really quickly and all will be fine.
Sending. :bighug:

Sending hugs and good luck wishes, Countrybumpkin! xxxx

I've also had 3 of these Countrybumpkin - the sedation means you will sail through it and back out the other side before you know it. You have had them before and are here to tell the tale, so you will be fine ;). Good luck, will be thinking of you.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate your replies. Will update tomorrow.

Right pin your ears back everyone ;D ;D
The gastroscopy was bearable even though the sedation meant I was totally aware if groggy. Had my usual hiatus hernia and mild gastritis plus I now have miniscule polyps ( skin tags as such) in stomach the biggest being 2mm! they took 3 biopsies and removed a polyp to be absolutely sure that what he thinks he saw is what he saw. I smiled at the bottom of the report when it said no cancer was seen! Oh good. My Gp says that the type of polyp I have are harmless and the histology will hopefully confirm this.
I then got results of my mri scans and my liver/pancreas one was completely normal ( apart from my known tiny gallstones) and the neurofibroma on my thoracic spine has reduced considerably to 6mm since the last scan 7years ago. I do though have a prolapsing thoracic disc which is probably causing pain.
My last test is on monday which is a renal and abdominal ultrasound, I did ask my gp if I had to have this given I had had the mri but she said yes please then I know I have covered absolutely everything.
So phew!!!!!!

Well done and I'm so glad of your outcomes, countrybumpkin! You must be exhausted though.......
Put your feet up and give yourself a well deserved treat. You deserve it! xxxxx

Well done Countrybumpkin for getting through the gastroscopy :medal: and what's more - all good news (apart from the prolapsing disc). Hope you can get effective treatment for that. Good luck for Monday - last hurdle in sight :)
-
Wonderful news countrybumpkin! I was thinking of you all day.
Time to chill now, be kind to yourself xxx :)

The prolapsing thoracic disc is not on imaging impinging on the nerve root so not something that they would consider from a surgery point of view, I have much much worse prolapsed discs and even with these surgery is a last resort. I have yet to find any pain relief that works for me I just try and live within my severe limitations physically to reduce the pain levels - this pain all started after i walked round ikea which was a very stupid thing to do ::)
-
Countrybumpkin, are nerve block injections an option for you? I tried these but ended up having spinal surgery in the end (facetectomy and microdiscectomy). I know the thoracic spine is difficult. I had a syrinx in the thoracic region of my spinal cord and oh boy!!! I also have disc degeneration in T3/T4 and lying flat some times can be agony! I can't take opiate pain medication as I'm allergic (anaphylaxis) so I try to limit anything that involves twisting too much or I'm in for a rough few days afterwards!
Sending you hugs, as I know how very painful this is! xxxxx

Correct footwear is essential, I could half the World's back pain problems ;-).
Physiotherapy! learn how to bend correctly, picking up stuff properly (I forget when putting the dogs' leads on = sciatica >:( ), walking correctly - I could go on and on and ........... :-X ......... swimming can ease spinal problems as it is non weight bearing.
Deportment classes can teach us how to walk tall, literally; which eases the impact of the spine spaces reducing during the day. Keeping the whole spine 'lifted' from the pelvis (hips) by thinking of the top of the skull as the tallest part of us .......... and that precious flute of Champagne is balanced on top -;) ...

Thanks tempest and clkd. Steroid injections into spine would be the next step but having so many problem discs in all of my spine there is a limit to what and how many you can have ( no more than 3 in any one year for whole of spine) so not rushing into it ( plus I am a scaredy cat).
Last year when I was in a wheelchair for a couple of months then got slowly better I learnt very quickly not to do certain movements or I was out of action again for a few weeks and most of the time I remember. the Alexander Technique can be very beneficial to learn how to move but its not something you learn in two lessons.
Sadly when I tried just walking in a swimming pool my lumbar spine siezed up totally the next day so for some reason my spine does not like water!
Today my poor husband woke up and could not move his head at all as his neck has siezed up completely. It's the first time he has been incapacitated totally by his bad back and as he said " I now know what your world is like", so talk about the lame trying to look afte the halt ;D ;D

One is supposed to swim in water not wade through it, that puts pressure on the body whilst trying to keep upright ::)
Warmth can ease neck spasm as can a good pain relief. How is he this evening?
-
;D ;D I was told not to swim other than on my back because swimming on your front puts alot of strain on your neck and to only walk in the water! As I can't use my arms much swimming on back was only option other than walking. Water is not my natural environment :o :o
His neck is a little easier tonight but still cannot move his head either way . He is not looking forward to trying to get into bed!
