Hello,
I'm new to the forum, but have seen that it is an amazing resource and help for people like me. Does anyone have any experience of my issue? I have been on oestrogen gel (one and a half pumps daily), utrogestan 100mg (vaginally) and a 15th of a tube of testim for nearly 9 months. My last period was 21 months ago. My problem is that I am still experiencing bleeding for 2-5 days a time on a irregular basis (can be twice a month, can be less). It's not the bleeding that affects me, its the feeling chronic that goes with it (especially the lack of sleep). I suspect that I am not on a high enough dose of oestrogen?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello poochy- don't know enough to comment but would be interested in the answers you get from some of the other ladies. Just wanted to say hi and :welcomemm:

Hi and welcome to MM poochy
I had this type of breakthrough bleeding on the gel with Utrogestan regime. Problematic bleeding is an issue with Utrogestan as it is not a powerful progesterone - I also had more side effects with Utrogestan than with other progesterones e.g. Sedation, period cramps. A higher dose of Oestrogen might make things worse - you need to check with your specialist - I assume you are going privately as Testim is rarely given on the NHS.
You could do better with a Mirena as the progesterone part of this regime. DG x

Thanks for the welcome!
I am on utrogestan 100mg as I can't tolerate any other form of progesterone. I've tried them all. I had a mirena for a year but bled continuously and the other side effects made life really miserable. I'm getting Testim on the NHS. The specialist nurse practitioner I see at the John Radcliffe in Oxford was quite open to me trying it to see if it helped with brain fog, fatigue and non existent libido (yes, a bit, not much, so far).

Hi again poochy - it is a mystery as to why some women get problematic bleeding on HRT. Continuous HRT of any kind can often bring problems - this is why many women choose to stick to a sequential HRT regime to lessen the progesterone side effects and avoid problematic bleeding.
You may need to have a scan to see if your womb lining is building up. The alternative would be to use this regime in a sequential way - so use 100mg for 10 days each month and then have a proper bleed. Check with your HRT team if this would be ok. You might at least get a more predictable bleed each month.
I'm afraid all hrts can bring compromises - the benefits need to outweigh the benefits.
