It was beginning to climb out of the water but he never hesitated!  I think he should be put forwards for an 'award' ....... at least the cat didn't claw or bite!

The 46-year-old [driving instructor] admitted knowing the car was not insured but denied knowing the car had no MOT, said police.
Police seized the car and took the driving instructors' badge. {surely that should be 'instructor's' ? }
She was reported to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and will need to provide valid insurance and MOT documents to police at a later date.

Apparently the learner would have passed her Test had the car not been pulled over - now I believe that this 'instructor' should be struck off!

He took his shoes off, I get the impression that he would have taken a swim, if proved a necessity, to rescue the cat. Maybe that's just me!

CLKD is right, the correct and safest way to handle an unknown cat, particularly in an abnormal situation is to scruff it. Ask any vet!  He was doing what its feline mother does to move her kittens if she perceives danger. He stopped getting a huge mauling by a scared cat.

Yes I have just seen that too. Alcohol? Drugs? Using his mobile?  Will have to wait to hear the cause.

Python found lurking in bathroom toilet in Southend

My Nightmare!

I don't see me visiting Southend in a hurry then.

Apparently it's not common but happens more frequently than we might think.  Explains why I ALWAYS insist the lid is down.  If something wants to come up, I want to hear it happening and can scarper  - fast!!!!!!!

Did read that somewhere in Florida an alligator tried the same trick.

Did they catch it in Southend or did it slither back down again?

I was OK with things with no legs, slow worms apart, until a very close encounter in Kenya 100% scared the .... out of me.  Total phobia now.
