Four months in; I reckon I've had, in total, about 4 weeks without bleeding. And I mean two tampax a day bleeding - not just spotting.
I'll give it 6 months but is this really usual?

If you look at the info about the Mirena on this site, it does say that not everyone will end up completely bleedfree. Hopefully it will settle over the next few weeks but you may be someone that gets occasional bleeding. It may also depend on the amount of oestrogen you are using and where you are in your meno journey. DG x

Hi Dancinggirl,
Yes, completely aware that bleeds can be expected...but most days? And bleeding enough that a change of tampax is required?
What do you mean about oestrogen levels? It would be great if you could explain more. Thanks

I can't remember where you are in your meno journey- are you peri or post meno? Were you already getting problematic bleeding before the Mirena was fitted? How much oestrogen are you using? if you are still Peri meno and using quite a high dose of the oestrogen then I suspect there it is more likely that bleeding will
Occur on and off. 2 Tampax per day Is not a heavy bleed. I'd keep going and see if things settle I've the next few weeks. DGX

Hi, I went onto the coil after almost a year without periods. So no problematic bleeding at all! I'm only using one pump of estrogel a day.
So, that doesn't work with the theory!
As for 2 tampax a day - I guess it's not flooding - but I'm not really meant to be bleeding so consistently four months into the coil, I suspect - I mean, it's not spotting, and it's an on and off ocurrence.
I guess I'll keep going for a bit longer.

It is a bit of a mystery. Any bleeding or spotting should be settling by now. Can you still feel the strings? Sometimes the Mirena can slip out or move. May be worth having this checked. DG x

I did have a check about a month ago, and it was fine = the bleeding was happening then too.
I'm going to see the nurse next week for another check

I think mine suddenly stopped at about 4 months.
It's good your getting checked out it'll give you piece of mind!
