Title: Consultant visit
Post by: Ellie309 on April 13, 2017, 09:23:58 AM
I saw the consultant yesterday,  she said it would help for me to lose weight. I am having scan on Saturday and she wants to check my lining by giving me a hysterscope and biopsy and said she could fit a mirena coil if I wanted on the 26th.

Is this all normal?  Very scared about the procedure

She said that she sees women like me every day experiencing heavy bleeding.

Hi  :)
I'm no expert but this does sound like the standard first approach to treating heavy bleeding.
Are you ok with this, was there something else you were hoping for?

IT would help to lose weight ( for all of us that are carrying too much , me included ) as reduces risk of things like womb cancer as well,as the usual stuff like CVD and diabetes. A hysterscope and biopsy are the usual first steps in investigating heavy bleeding - I was found to have stage 1 womb cancer during hysterectomy for ovarian tumour and oncologist said that hysterectomy was enough treatment for it. I know they git mirena for bleeding problems but I've heard good and not so good reports on it so I'd say see what the biopsy shows first.
