Title: Having a nightmare with hrt
Post by: Dweeb on April 02, 2017, 07:12:21 PM
Hi all, I'm having a real mare at the moment.
Last year I went back on hrt after 4 yrs, because all of my symptoms came back. I was put on eleste duette conti, which was ok. Then my boobs were so painful and I started to bleed.
I went to my doc who put me on femseven conti patches. My boobs stopped hurting but the bleeding didn't.
I've had a hysteroscopy to see if there was an issue but the tests came back ok.
Now though, I'm bleeding every 2 weeks and it's lasting 8-9 days.
I am going to see my doc again but I don't really know what he'll suggest.
I don't want to come off hrt as I'm now actually sleeping well for the first time in years lol and he hot flushes have stopped.
Any advice/shared experience  would be so welcome.

Try having a Mirena fitted and then use oestrogen as pills, patch or Oestrogel alongside. The Mirena will usually settle bleeding after the first few weeks and often brings fewer problems. Look under Progesterones in the TREATMENTS section at the top of this page for more info.

Hi Dweeb.

How long have you been on FemSeven conti? It can take up to six months to settle down. Breakthrough bleeding is very common on a conti HRT. Dancinggirl's advice to try the Mirena is good.
