Title: Increased HRT, increased night sweats?
Post by: samweller161 on February 17, 2017, 09:08:16 AM
Hi all - just to ask whether an increase in HRT dosage should increase night sweats?  A bit of background .....

Am 50 (nearly 51) and have been on Elleste Duet 1mg since Jan 2015 (I also take Escitalapran AD and have been for quite a number of years). It was the night sweats which made me start HRt in the first place.  All was perfectly fine. Around autumn last year I started to get a few more night sweats and anxiety (mainly due to decreasing the ADs as I felt so well and also having a majorly stressful period at work) so went back up to 20mg AD and asked doc about increasing HRT to 2mg which was readily agreed to.  All was ok for the first couple of weeks and since then the night sweats have returned with a vengeance.  It's not bad compared with some ladies on this forum but I have always been a great sleeper and now am awake from around 3.00am.  I have a good diet, don't smoke, drink occasionally and do exercise so am not sure what to do - I find it crazy that the very thing designed to reduce hot flushes is making them worse?

Am just on day 5 of the second month so is it too early to tell do you think?  Is this just a "bedding in" stage as my body accepts them?

Strangely I don't feel overly tired as a result - I work full time and in quite a senior position (although I am moving on in April as my job is changing to involve a fair bit of overseas travel which I don't really want to do).

I don't tend to get many flushes during the day at the moment, only at night

HELP!  Am confused  :-\ not to mention warm

xx

Thank you Stellajane - agreed it might take a while to stabilise and I emailed my symptoms to a specialist I have seen a couple of times (recommended by this site) and she said give it a bit longer and then maybe get thyroid levels checked.  It just seems very odd to come on all of a sudden.  Am keeping a diary/log of all symptoms as well
