Hi just been to docs as been for on femostan conti 0.5 mg/2.5 mg for nearly 4 years - started with breakthrough flushing a few months ago - doc has increased to 1 mg/5mg to try for 2 'months - worried about increase side effects and weight gain - any experience of this ? I am 47 .

the dose you are on is a very low dose and really not ideal for someone of your age if you are post-menopausal since it does not give sufficient bone protection. Also if you are getting flushes this confirms the dose is too low. Definitely go for the higher dose! There may be some side effects initially but do give it the full two months to settle. As for weight gain - this is something you can control through diet and exercise - cut down/out sugars and too many carbs, fatty processed foods ( if you eat them) and increase the amount of lean protein, fruit, veg, nuts etc, as well as taking regular exercise including resistance training ( low key!) to maintain muscle mass, as well as lots of walking! (Apologies if you're already doing this!)

Thanks for the advice ! Yes I do get the gym regularly anyway and run so hopefully if there is an issue it will spur me on! Breakthrough flushing has been bothering me but was hoping it would go away 😉!! Will give these a try as it makes me feel generally unwell .
