Hi, this is a post for Honeybun mainly but if anyone else can shed any light on what it may be I would appreciate it.
What it is Honeybun I came across a post of yours from three years ago about you having stomach pains, bad wind and bloating and these came on during and after eating. Wondered if you got to the bottom of it because I am going through the same at the moment been really grotty with digestion problems for about two weeks. Stomach cramps after eating and really bad wind. But have been on several hrt tablets as well recently. At present on Indivina and I keep thinking its that. been on it about three weeks.
Been to Docs and it's quite possible it's ibs. But he is sending me for a stomach scan.
Had buscapan which as given me a little relief. Then got silicolgel which I think is better than buscapan.
I am at a loss really what is causing this other than hrt

I have been feeling very similar, although not on HRT Started taking digestive enzymes a week ago from a health food shop I have felt much better this week I am trying to reduce gluten and keep a food diary. Hope this is helpful X
-
I'm having a terrible time with this too. Been on and off since March but past 6 weeks have been pretty constant.Thought in december it was due to me eating rubbish but it has continued even though I've been eating well for the past fortnight. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat at the moment.
-
Hi Sammas,
Thanks for your reply. I have been looking at digestive enzymes and I will get some. I am taking a probiotic first thing in a morning and hoping that may start to help me. I have felt that bad that I have not gone out for a fortnight.
I don't have gluten anyway, I have coeliac.
I'm just at a loss what to take to feel better. Thanks once again xx
-
Hi Sparkle,
Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear you have these horrible digestive issues.
I try to drink plenty of water but that can also bloat me a lot. I have gluten free bread, I have coeliac, actually that doesn't seem to cause me much of a problem. Last night I just could not sleep for the gurgling and noises and bloating coming from my stomach. Mine seems to go worse by about nine at night.
Thanks again. Take care xx

Hi Nearly50,
Thanks for your post. I'm sorry your the same. It is getting me down also. I cannot seem to plan anything anymore, some days feel worse than others. But night seems to be my worse time.
I have started probiotics, take one every morning first thing. I'm hoping they help. I keep wondering if this is ibs. For twenty months I have had a stressful time. My daughter came home with a baby, then my father died. Then we had going to court constantly to stop father getting any access to our grand daughter because of her safety. We did get it in end. Oh but so stressful Me and my husband have had a really bad time of things.
Keep thinking it could be this and that the stress has brought on ibs.
Thanks once again and take care xx
-
Thanks dap5645
Sounds like you've got a lot going on - I think the hormonal imbalances make things worse but am sure stress plays its part too. Is your doctor wanting you to stay on your hrt for 3 months to see if it pans out?
I think my problems are made worse by having to take iron tablets because of heavy periods, and I'm pretty sure my fibroid is squashing things which shouldn't be squashed. At least we know we're not alone in this, and hopefully your probiotics will make a difference.
I'm ok in the mornings, afternoon and evenings worst for me.
-
Hi Nearly 50,
Yes I am staying on them for three months. I think its best to do that really just to give them a chance.
I take the probiotic every morning and I've been taking this silicolgel before each meal three times a day and my stomach as been a lot better. No cramps today and no bloating. This stuff is for IBS and digestive problems. Found this is the best stuff I've taken. It's made by Saguna but got it from Holland and Barratt on line
Yes my stomach troubles go worse at night. But can feel bad some mornings. Afternoons always okay. xx
-
Hi Sparkle,
I hope it does calm down in a bit. I'm going to keep on this Indivina.
Just said to Nearly 50 this silicolgel is really good stuff my digestive issues today have been a lot better. No cramps or bloating. You take it before meals.
It's made by Saguna but got it from Holland and Barratt on line.
It may help you also Sparkle xx
-
Thanks dap5645, I will look into that. Bizarrely I had no stomach pain yesterday even though I ate loads of bread which I had thought was a definite trigger. I give up trying to work out what causes what as it seems to change by the day.
-
Hope it helps you as well Sparkle.
I am going to try some digestive enzyme supplements as well.
Along with hrt and everything else i'm taking it's a wonder i'm not rattling. It's a real pain all this.
-
Today nearly 50 not had such a good day.
Had some cramps and had to go to the toilet about four times.
It seems to be on eating anything today. The only thing I was okay on was toast. I think bread is fine for me ( mine is gluten free)
Felt quite tired today and I must stop asking Dr Google. I'm now scaring myself to death on what I might have.

Hi dap5645 - could it be that you are somehow eating some gluten without being aware of it? Your symptoms do sound very much coeliac related. I appreciate that you are really skilled at managing your illness but sometimes things slip through and get missed? Could you have developed lactose intolerance? I know that this is one of the things likely to develop later on if you are diagnosed with coeliac but is often missed and diagnosed as IBS.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Sparkle
Really these symptoms came on me in early November but not as bad. Then going up to Christmas I couldn't get the Premique so changed to Kliofem but I had an idea I would bleed on this one had another one before with same progesterone and bled, so then changed to indivina all this I did within space of a bout 10 to 14 days. Keep wondering if this as done this to my stomach.
Hope you are feeling better xx
-
Hi Taz2,
Oh it's gone through my head that I could be eating gluten. But if I eat gluten my symptoms are different. I feel drugged I sweat profusely and I can't get out of bed.
But my symptoms are similar before I was diagnosed, but never had this gurgling and noises constantly from my stomach and all this wind, plus going to the toilet a lot more than normal. Strange I only ever went once in a morning when I had coeliac. It's all weird.
Also thought about the lactose but honestly it seems to be everything I eat, only toast. Keep wondering if there's gluten in the hrt but i'm sure there isn't. you see with food it always states allergy advice. But on medications rarely does. I always ask the pharmacist some are helpful some are not. Most of my docs have not a clue what i'm on about.
These noises from my stomach more than anything seem to point to ibs. But keep thinking about some sort of gut bacteria as well.
Thanks for your post. Hope you are well xx

Pleased your feeling a little better today Sparkle.
It's good when you see the GP and come out feeling like something as been sorted.
Take care xx

Maybe you are allergic to gelatin? That sounds like the most likely suspect if it is due to the tablets?

... which is why I didn't suggest that one!
How I understand it is that dap started to experience these particular digestive problems and pains after changing to her current HRT. If I've misunderstood this then forget the gelatin! I also looked it up and seems it is a common cause of allergy. It was just an idea as the discussion was about what was in the different HRT types so I looked them up!

How long have you been following the gluten free diet dap?

Hi Sparkle
Yes it's a tablet. They all have been. But your right I did start about a fortnight into the start of November. But at the start of November my daughter went through a two day trial to stop access to my grand daughters father. Due to domestic violence and for the safety of the child. I was there those two days and feeling so worked up in case he got any form of access because of his violence. I keep thinking it's IBS due to stress to be honest.
Also a combination of taking three types of hrt within a couple of weeks.
I am going for a stomach scan on Saturday Sparkle. Then I will be going back to docs.
Been okay today, as yet
Thanks Sparkle xx
-
Thanks so much Hurdity for all the ingredients in the HRT's
I am going to have a look at gelatin. I don't think i'm allergic to it. But it's surprising what gluten is in.
I'm okay with maize starch. But i'm going to check on this magnesium stearate.
You see if I take any supplements I have to make sure they are gluten free. Many aren't xx
-
Hi Taz2 I have been following it 14 years. xx
-
Sparkle thought of that right off when I started with this. It was an horrendous time. Even my husband who is very laid back was as worked up as me.
I will let you know how I get on. Thanks once again for your posts xx
-
Hi ladies, just to let you know went for stomach and pelvis ultra sound scan today and everything is okay. Was quite frightened what might be found. Have had no cramps today, just a little gurgling. Just stopped taking these indivina a few days ago and to be honest felt tons better day after was reluctant to do this because of feeling bad but then again I couldn't feel much worse. Got phone appointment Monday with my doc to speak about alternative hrt.
Hope you are all feeling better than you were. Take care and thanks so much for the replies it made me feel so much better that someone else had similar problems because I was thinking all sorts. Think as you get older ( I am 58) you tend to worry more.
-
So glad that all is well dap5645 and that you are feeling better.
