Have you put on much weight over Christmas - or is this just too depressing for words?!!
If you don't give too hoots then please ignore - you'll think we're all crackers - but I weigh myself regularly and have to work really hard to keep my weight stable - but I don't deny myself treats and if I go on holiday, out for meals or at Christmas - I ignore it all and eat and drink and be merry to my heart's content.
However - in one week I have put on 4 pounds! Gone from 8.12 (my now normal slim weight and where I am happy) to 9.2 with an increase in my middle roll ::). As I'm 5ft 1 ins, I have to be careful but I don't look fat yet! That is what happens if I take my eye off the ball for even a short while. Also all my classes have stopped since mid December so I'm slowly going to flab - roll on next week when they start again - but we still have so much food to eat and I was given soooo much chocolate !!!
I'm also going to do my usual dry January - at least after the end of Christmas - and we still have 4 days left!
Now then own up girls.....!

;D - nope ……….. I don't drink, nor do I eat anything 'extra' - I manage to spread out chocolates as a 'pudding' : 1 each mid-evening: and eat my 'normal' amount.
When I did go up to over 9st it took me 14 months of daily walking to shift it back to below 8 ::)

I'm over 8 stone which is too big for me so I won't eat any rubbish for a good while. Weight only goes to my stomach, I'd be fine with being bigger if it was evenly distributed. I gave all remaining chocolate and biscuits to the food bank, went on a 3 hour walk today and will be back to normal soon. Don't feel well when I eat junk but seem to have no stop mechanism any more and I hate how uncomfortable my bloated stomach is.

I didn't weigh myself just before so can't be sure. However I have decided to lose a bit. Have managed to do 3 walks and a swim during December. Wanted to go on another walk tomorrow but have to visit Dad. However I will try and keep it up. I was going to have baked potato with tuna, cottage cheese and celery tonight but have realised that I need to eat something else before it goes off.

8 stone doesn't sound big at all (unless you are short/slight build)! It would be rather underweight for me.

It is big for me, I'm tiny and none of my clothes fit as the extra 3lbs or so has accumulated solely round my waist.

Do you need tuna and cottage cheese in one meal :-\
When Mum was growing up a tin of tuna was a treat, so would be used along with salad. When I went to a meal with M in L she used cauliflower cheese as well as other veg. with the meat, whereas in our family cauliflower cheese was the main meal. Maybe re-think what mixes you use - do you need two proteins at once?
We have this evening eaten oven-baked spuds, I put a lot of black pepper and butter on mine with a dollop of home-made bean chutney on the side. Stuffed ::). I might have put heated baked beans on instead.
M in L would cook a tin of pilchards in tomato sauce and serve on hot buttered toast ….. very filling.

I had such a craving for beetroot today so had a big salad with that, feta cheese and olives. Yum, feel so much better eating that than the rubbish I've been inhaling.
-
I LOVE beetroot - we grow it or buy it ready cooked. A beetroot sandwich YUMMY! Do you use it as a hot veg., it was years B4 I realised some people eat it hot as we always had it cooked, cooled and in vinegar ::)
-
I just like it cold in a salad. My brother used to make a beetroot sandwich when he came home drunk and one morning screamed the place down as he thought he was bleeding to death but had actually just spilled the beetroot ::)

;D …… also, one tends to pee pink :o :-X

I get it Hurdity. I'm normally pretty good and haven't really gained any weight over the holidays, but I did allow myself a blow out around NYE and boy that was a mistake! I can't believe I could gain over 3 pounds in just a couple of days. I have lost quite a bit of weight in the last year, so this has just proved that I can never become complacent. Just have to step back on that bandwagon.
**edit** PS - just weighed myself and thankfully about 2 pounds have already gone. PHEW. Usually sudden weight gain like that really isn't "fat" and will "pass"....lol....

I wouldn't eat the whole tin in one meal! Part of it would go towards sandwiches for work the next day. It is a suggested recipe from a BBC good food book on low fat dishes with a combination of flavours. i am trying it for the first time. If I do cauliflower cheese, it is the main meal.

Diets then ladies? ;)
-
Nope. As a recovering anorexic I eat what I fancy when I fancy ……… exercise is important as part of a regulated programme of eating ……… (looks at treadmill) …….. I can go along with foods for while, i.e. cheese, then eat so much I can't face it for months ::)
Did someone mention home-made cheese-cake ;)
-
It's not weight gain that's my issue but I have digestive issues that flare up if I have too much fatty or rich food, which I did of course, coupled with stress bingeing when our son caused family upset :(
As a result my stomach is painful and sore from the excess acid so I am on a semi detox, very plain, for a few days to bring it back in line supported by Rennie's. I never learn.
All the best for your individual new year eating plans ladies :)

Christmas Weight Gain? Oh yes that's me!
Always been a really skinny bird, aside from pregnancy, Pizotifen, and HRT, but the past 2 months I've seen a sudden change. I've never owned scales but my Levis tell a story!
I'm going on the attack now, low starchy carbs and cutting out all snacking (woe is me, what to do with my Christmas boxes of Hotel Chocolate?! :o)
Trying to squeeze my protruding abdomen into my jeans was a complete education this morning. Does anyone have a shoe horn?! x
-
Haha, thanks Hasty that's put a smile on my face! xx
-
I remember my friend giving me that tip after I had our daughter. Still can't wear jeans that tight! In fact I've never felt comfortable in tight fitting clothes. I used to be skinny enough too, but still preferred clothes to be easy.
-
I have always bought knickers and leggings a size too big because I don't like tightness round my bits :)
-
That's the problem cubagirl............they are usually easy!! Totally naffed off, husband is as slim as ever!
Just off to make my salad, bleugh!!!!!!!!!!!!! x
-
Haha, love this site, it never fails to bring a smile to my face! You are a natural born comedian Sparkle! xx
My salad was delicious..........not!
-
-
I love salad - but not so much at this time of year (however avocado, orange and black olive salad with lemon and garlic dressing is delicious!) - and you don't need just salads to get slim! Cut those carbs and you can eat delicious food :) - tuna and cottage cheese all the way .... :o err - maybe not for me - not my favourite foods but I do add cottage cheese to my (home-made usually) soup instead of yogurt sometimes (depending on the soup!). Also low fat high protein and fewer carbs is a good combo! Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast (without toast)?
Diets cubagirl? I will be back to my permanent one (that I bang on about) just as soon as Christmas is over.....
Anyway I was 2 pounds less this morning so maybe it wasn't actual weight gain after all - after all that ;D

I find that electronic scales fluctuate so much that I can never be sure of their accuracy.
-
Cottage cheese? Over my dead rotting corpse!! I'd rather be Miss Piggy, I'd rather eat Miss Piggy! ;D
Made a delicious bouillabaisse tonight and added some spelt instead of mopping up with bread - worked very well. If I have to cut back I shall only eat foods I love.
-
It does depend on where the scales are placed B4 1 stands on them ;)
Slow transit makes me feel fat :-X
-
I know I've put on weight over Christmas but I haven't had time or energy to diet/re-start yoga/go for healthy walks yet. I can, I will, I must. Honest. ;)
When my brother was about nine, my grandfather was visiting us. He nipped in behind my brother, who had gone into the bathroom to weigh himself (he was rather chubby). Unseen, Grandpa stuck his foot out to the scales 'dial and turned it - result: my brother thought he was a whole lot heavier than he actually was! Poor brother. Naughty Grandpa! ;D

I started with all good intentions a year ago. Son was getting married, needed to fit outfit. I managed the outfit with help from scaffolding! 😂 Weight stayed much the same. This year's incentive is our 40th anniversary & we want to go to somewhere nice, with a nice hotel & beach. I've even ordered new swimsuit for the occasion in the sales. Fingers crossed! ;)
-
I joined Slimming World in October (I have a LOT of weight to lose) - I went for my post-Christmas weigh-in having eaten what I fancied on Christmas Day and Boxing Day (rather than sticking to the plan). I was ready for a gain - draw a line under the season and get on track again ... and I'd LOST 3lbs! However, I also 'fell off the wagon' on New Year's Day (no alcohol - chocolates, shortbread and proper toast!!) so I don't think the scales will be so kind this week!!
But, I'm back on plan now, so onwards and downwards!!
-
I've put on a drastic amount. I lost two stone at SW and kept it off for two years, I was a target member and eventually last few months, stopped going to classes. Big mistake. I have put on 7 lbs !!! That's a lot over a couple of months. Interestingly my clothes all fit but on the " tight side" and I know my face and boobs are much bigger! I'm still within healthy range, 9 st 7 lbs at 5' 6" Co incidently a friend and I were having coffee and she mentioned going to see the GP about starting Vagifem. I told her I've been using it since May. She said she had put off starting as she heard it can contibute to weight gain. I tried explaining it was systemic and only affected the vaginal tissues , but she said her practice nurse had said it was a known side effect, which would correspond with my increase ( of course, so would over eating ! And drinking !).
Anyway I prefer a few extra pounds to bring up all night with cystitis and continual bladder pain, all of which have thankfully disappeared .
I'm cutting out all snacks, reducing my carb intake, walking more regularly and going dry for January!
