Hi Ladies
I am on day 7 Vagifem and woke this morning with a strong smell of fish and a little irritation within the vagina(sorry to be so personal) but has anyone experienced this??
Glad kippers were not on the menu this morning ;D

Vagifem won't necessarily stop BV or other vaginal infections emerging - it'll help to keep thing healthy but in my experience one still needs some vaginal moisturiser (e.g. Sylk) and occasional use of a BV treatment e.g. Multi Gyn Actigel. It's about a range of strategies that keep things healthy.
Fishy smell is often BV but it's nothing to do with the Vagifem. DGx

I experienced similar a few weeks ago, and used the Multi Gyn Acti gel, then Sylk moisturiser. I had a bout of cystitis just before that so Im thinking this was the reason, and not the Vagifem as I've used it since with no recurrence.

I agree - not the Vagifem causing this!

A fishy odour is a common smell of infection ……… if it continues I would get the Practice Nurse to take a swab. In the meantime, get some LIVE yoghurt down you - large spoonfuls several times a day, plus used in the vagina can ease symptoms.

If you've got a sexual health clinic locally, it can be quick to get an appointment there and they'll examine/swab/treat more or less there and then. You might need to explain the vagifem etc - last time I went and had an infection was before I worked out the cystitis feelings were VA and I don't think my age occurred to them as an issue.

Thanks for your replies.
When my estrogen falls the first signs are burning irritating along with other symptoms down there. I know last time I stopped oestrogel to try Tibulone I had Va++++ CYSTITIS UTI. Felt like I had razer blades down below.
On day 7 of Vagifem but just realised my Oestrogel is almost empty.and I have noticed it gets less effective.
Will carry on and see if it improves
