Hi all, I occasionally get attacks of mild vertigo which can last for days or weeks. My doctor says it's a recurring viral ear infection but I don't have any other symptoms in my ears. I only have increased tiredness. Plus the vertigo symptoms are exhausting.
Do any of you ladies get this too?

My daughter had vertigo on and off after the birth of her 3rd baby, doc said it was an aura migraine, might be worth looking it up to compare symptoms

Thanks Annie. I don't get the other symptoms I'm afraid and the vertigo is continuous.

BPPV look it up . I have had it 30 years on/off.

Vertigo was my first peri symptom. With me its always been a off balance feeling like walking on a boat in rough sea or when you step off a fairground ride. I always got it around my period, then progressed to having it most of the day when walking. I looked ok no other symptoms.
No doctors I saw beleved it was hormones ( I am now 100%) it was. HRT didn't help. Only the last few months it is feeling milder.
use a diary and google link between vertigo and menopause.

I have had vertigo for years. It flares up from time to time. I've had is this past few weeks with worry so I think stress can kick mine off but I often get it for no reason at all. I had tests years ago on my ears and it wasn't that for me. Your GP should send you to a specialist to make sure it actually is associated with your ears. My husband also suffers with it. He was shown how to do the Epley Maneuver when he went to a specialist. It's worth a go. It definitely helps. have a look on You Tube

It can be a perimeno symptom, I had it for the first time last year and couldn't move my head at all for a week and had to sleep bolt upright. Epley was done twice by GP but didn't work (hence, wasn't the suspected BPPV), then I noticed the severity went up and down with my cycle. The pill made it go away and since I've come off it I only have very mild moments of it.

It can be AWFUL! I used to suffer following a heavy cold :-\ …… I would know before I opened my eyes in the morning that it was 'there'.

I'm so glad I found this post I've been suffering for the past 16 months with dizziness it comes and goes in severity but never really goes away. Like some of you explain it it's like being on a boat or drunk without the benefits. It's very hard to walk and do daily things as I never know if it's going to hit real bad and make me stop in my tracks. I've been to drs to be told it's just anxiety and I know it's not anxiety.nothing is spinning nothing is moving but inside of my head it is it's very disturbing and hard to function this all started when my cycles started getting more out of wack. I also have other symptoms as well I just pray I get my balance back

Hi flower this has been my main horrible symptom too. You just can't focus on anything can you. It's a nightmare and scary. I sympathise with you believe me. I am coming to the end of peri now and hope it just goes away xx

If you have been checked out - bloods, iron, ears, blood pressure, blood sugar etc and nothing has been found then not sure what to suggest - although my gut feeling is that dizziness should have a cause, Have you been referred to a specialist? If not I would push for this.

Everything has been checked out my iron,bp ect all my labs is normal my EKGs has been normal as well. I haven't been referred to a specialist as I'm gonna have to find a new Dr as mine just puts everything down to anxiety

I think anxiety is their default when they don't know! Such a leap to make and not helpful as it suggests the patient is in control of it and we all know how little controls we have on our own hormones.
I was told I had overstimulation of the ears, causing vertigo type feelings, and of the eyes, causing motion sickness. The GP suggested it was oestrogen surges.

I've also had dizziness & balance problems following the birth of my eldest 31 years ago. It was put down to anxiety. Anyway long story short, peri symtoms hut me big time 3 years ago with the dizziness, balance issues becoming a daily occurrence. I was sent to a neurologist in May this year, who diagnosed vestibular migraine, likely triggered by menopause, symptoms are often described as having just stepped off a boat, sick headache or a hangover. Most often sufferers don't get a headache, the dizziness is the most debilitating symptom. If you suffered motion sickness in childhood, chances are you could have VM also known as Migraine Assosiated Vertigo. Look it up as theres loads more info about it.

Used to get this on and off quite a lot - assumed it was my ears. One time, I got out of bed and felt like I was on a rollercoaster going fast forward.
I got it a few weeks ago when I forgot my hrt pill and thought 'that's interesting ::) but that is the only time it has happened.

I woke up with vertigo about 7 weeks ago and am menopausal (on HRT). It's slowly improving, but still can't lie flat. I do wonder if there's a link to menopause, but also just before I was very anxious and spent a long time lying in bed. A nurse suggested I buy a V pillow, so I build up the back of my bed like an armchair and this has allowed me to sleep at night, as I was getting exhausted from lack of sleep.
