It all depends if you need it or not and if doc is willing to prescribe xx

There are lots of recent threads on this most of which have testosterone in the title. Look at the last three pages of these two sections (All things menopause and Personal experiences) as well as the private lives section, and you will find all the information and experiences you are looking for!

I hope you did this before your appointment because it is the quickest way to get an answer - especially as there are perhaps fewer testosterone users, so chances of one of us being on the boards when you want an answer, are less likely!

Let us know how you got on anyway :)

No luck at the gp told her that my libido was suffering and could I try testosterone along with my estrogen patch she said that it would make me have a deep voice and hair on my face she upped my patch from 50 to 75 to see if it makes a difference .

What absolute rubbish!  And how little she knows I've been on testosterone for 10 months for Low libido in addition to the crashing fatigue and I can assure you I have not got facial hair or a deep voice as a side effect. I suggest re visiting your GP and showing her the NICE guidelines November 2015 which clearly highlights testosterone as being beneficial for females who are experiencing sexual dysfunction.
If she declines ask for a referral to a specialist consultant.

Best wishes

Hi Rockhopper

I've been on testosterone since mid oct - seeing as though you've had a good run of it could you tell me how long it was roughly before the energy and libido came back ? I've had some really good days (and nights) but am hitting a dip right now with both , I realise I am early days on it and those good times could've been because of my holiday but this week I've noticed worse muscle weakness too

TIA

Are you going to go back? If you think you'd benefit from using testosterone, even for a limited period of time,  maybe you should; armed with the NICE and British Menopause Society reports.
I can send the relevant exerts to you if you want

Actually it's a good thing to increase your oestrogen levels first if you are well post-menopause because you don't want to tip the balance in favour of androgenic effects - although I agree your doc is talking rubbish and giving out the standard response for testosterone - about the deep voice and hairiness! I mean she should know that there are/were licensed T products for women - implants, and the discontinued Intrinsa patch.

Even though the NICE Guidelines do make provision for women to be given testosterone off licence for low libido despite HRT use, it is still their decision but if they are unwilling to do so as Rockhopper says then a referral to a gynae is in order. That being said some gynaes may also not be willing but hopefully since Nov 2015 they are becoming up to date too!

Let us know how you feel after your increase in oestrogen (after a few weeks that is...)
