I have been going through a nightmare since the end of July with anxiety. Can it get worse when you start on the Evo Conti patches
-
A surge of hormonal activity can cause anxiety surges.
How bad do they make you feel? Is the HRT easing other symptoms?
-
Not really. My gp seems to think it will. I'm assuming it gets worse before it gets better
-
I believe that menopausal anxiety takes a range of measures to really get it under control. You can't expect HRT to do everything and the HRT hormones will possibly take up to 6 months to help any anxiety, so it is often necessary to have SRRIs/ADs alongside to really get your life back on track.
Have you tried some Mindful Meditation or had CBT to help get the anxiety under control? Have a good look at your diet to check you a getting enough Vitamin D, Magnesium and Omega 3 oils - deficiency in these things can really effect mood. Brisk walking and doing some yoga or pilates is also a good idea. At this time in our lives we need to pay particular attention to our lifestyle choices and take life more easily. DG x

Hrt did take care of almost all my anxiety, but the first few months were as bad, if not worse because of the ups and downs, as before taking anything.
-
I'm on AD and into week 3 of CBT.
-
Burchers - it's sounds like you are doing all the right things and you now need to give things time. DG x

Thanks everyone. I'm trying hard to beat this. I can't wait for the day I wake up without butterflies in my tummy and I just live without being conscious of living.
-
:bighug: don't try to 'beat' it. This time of Life is The Change ….. when the body changes and we become really aware of the ups and downs hormonal dips cause.

I've felt nervy all week. It's not getting better. I don't know whether to just stay on my stuff for the vaginal dryness .
I'm fed up of doing battle with myself.
Could this be the Evro Sequil Patches
-
"I just live without being conscious of living."
I love that phrase Burchers - I always think I would like to get 'out of my head' and have a day free of thoughts about anything other than what is happening around me. I do have that feeling when I am out and about or busy working, but give me any free time - especially evening/early hours of the morning, and I am locked into anxiety mode.
Good luck - I am going to try hypnotherapy. At the moment I would try a witch doctor [if anyone knows a good one?!].

I know it's driving me insane. I'm struggling with weekends having awful panic attack.
Since having the patch I've felt more anxious
-
I had Evorel 25 patches and they made me very anxious (had nausea and dizziness too) but I had the same with Oestrogel as I think my natural oestrogen is still too high as I get the same anxiety building up to and at ovulation. If you're peri you may be in a similar situation of having surging oestrogen, as I've heard too many accounts of women feeling better overnight from starting oestrogen therapy to know that's how you're more likely to feel if you really need it. I also had this with the pill where some made me feel instantly fantastic and some instantly terrible!
The effects will no doubt dampen down after 3 months as your body chemistry overrides it to some extent (as with most drugs) which may then make it more bearable but it may be better to find out what your body actually needs.

Hi Burchers
Hope you feel better soon. I had anxiety very bad for a couple of years. I've used the Evorel conti patches for over a year and they have helped me.
Best wishes
xx

In your first post you said you were on the Conti patches. In a later post you said you were on the Sequi patches. Which ones are you actually on???
If you were on the sequi ones (for how long?) and have now changed to the conti ones, it could be the continuous prosgesterone that is causing the problem.
If you were on the sequi ones before, were you ok when on the progesterone set of patches?
Between July and now, what patches were you on?
Perhaps if you give us more detail, we may be able to figure it out.
